As per Uncle Jim's instructions, I've reprinted The Wan in a different format and I'm reading it out loud to myself to catch the last little stumbles in my sentences, delete all superfluous adjectives and adverbs. Also all paragraphs that don't need to be there ( Read more... ) -
Viable Paradise, the aftermath
Viable Paradise is over! Saturday morning I was torn between never wanting to leave the sunny Martha's Vineyard and desperately wanting to be home right now. I don't know why, since another week of not sleeping and not eating would hardly have been good for me. But the feeling of community was just so intense.

Progress report
Got another edit i on The Wan, and an edit report. Basically they all say the same: the book is done, ready, ripe. Send it out! I'm just waiting on the last round of sharp-eyed edits from by beloved writing buds and on myself. Coz I have to get that synopsis done. It's done!
The novel is done. Bloody well done. I've never had so much trouble writing. I had to pull most of the words by their balky roots. Where are the days that I could have written 140,000 words instead of 95,000 in the same eight weeks? Jeez ( Read more... ) -
Paul Harland Award
Whee!
Yesterday, I won first place in the Dutch Paul Harland Awards - a yearly Dutch language competition for sf and fantasy shorts. Yay! Most money anybody ever got for a short story. I'll probably never get paid that much again...
