Reading out loud

As per Uncle Jim's instructions, I've reprinted The Wan in a different format and I'm reading it out loud to myself to catch the last little stumbles in my sentences, delete all superfluous adjectives and adverbs. Also all paragraphs that don't need to be there

Hee! Excellent. I suspect you could have read aloud with a British accent at VP, too. I, for one, would enjoy hearing it. The snootier, the better!

Snooty is fun.

But the big question is, why does American hurt the throat and British not? I think there is a different place in the mouth where these accents take place. Someone should research it...:-)
