Well, I just received that call today informing me that I got the job I interviewed for. I will be the new Editorial Assistant at a bimonthly trade magazine, called Light Metal Age.

I start Wednesday, and I am very excited.

I am in my fourth year subbing for the same high school district, and it's starting to get really interesting. I'm teaching Seniors this year that I remember as Freshmen. Some of you may know that I worked at Aunt Lute Books over the summer as an editorial intern (an experience I loved and wish could have gone on longer). One of the projects that I helped work on was the second edition of Her by Cherry Muhanji.

The days are still warm, but getting cooler. There's definitely a bite to the air in the morning, a sure sign that fall is on its way. But the main sign that summer's over: school starts tomorrow, which means that I will be getting calls to substitute teach. My first day as an intern went well. It was laid back and almost easy. I met some of the other interns, they both seemed like good peeps. We digitized some originals to get them reading to be type set, although the scanning process tends to mess everything up on the page. So we have to go back and do the corrections tomorrow.
