Yeah, so I'm changing my diet. It fucking sucks.

As any idiot observer could attest, I love food. I love eating food. I love fatty foods.

But the Doc is right and I need to cut that shit out.

Being a diet-wise individual, albiet of varying severity, here is my (possibly flawed) wisdom. Excuse anything you already know, as I love to talk ( ... )

Starting at the end ('cause a lot of that went STRAIGHT over my head), I eat apples not for low sugar. 'Cause I know they're sugar. Apples wake me up. Good for the morning ( ... )

Oh well see you EXCERCISE. I don't do that. Good for you! (BTW, oats and chocolate fiber one bars.)

Again, the exercise is not something I could do for myself. I'm doing it for my Dad so he doesn't die early of a heart attack, or die from his sleep apnea when he stops breathing ( ... )

Thanks, Laura. I know you focus a lot on dietary health for yourself and your kids. It's a good role model to have right here ( ... )

I use webmd.com. pretty close to what you've already been linked too. I've found fiber infused water (meijer band..not sure if you have those.)

Fiber in water? euuchh! I like fiber in other things. Beans, or veggies or oats. but I can't immagine drinking it.

I could... give you lots of advice but I am an eating disordered individual and have extreme approaches.

Calorie counting is not the only thing that counts though. The QUALITY of the calories you're eating means much more. I mean you could eat 1200 cals of fruit and vegies or 1200 calories of chips. You know?

In dieting, well... this way madness lies. If you just aim on eating as much fresh, whole, home made food as possible, with a serious focus on cutting out (ok, reducing) refined carbs, dairy, salt, refined sugars, take away food and packaged food you'll have a diet that is balanced and healthy. Good luck with it. If you can do it and keep your body image healthy then you'll be doing better than most of us!!!!

Agreed - it's the quality of calories, not the quantity.

One Big Mac meal at McDonald's would satisfy the 1300/day ... but not be healthy or appropriate.

Well, as for the quality, I think I've done pretty well. FOR EXAMPLE! Today was Compounding Meeting day at work. And they always supply doughnuts.

And I ate NONE of them.

That, for me, is HUGE.

I'm trying, I really am. But this is new to me and I'm at a bit of a loss. As time passes, I'm sure I'll get into a groove. I mean, this is only day three. I still don't know what my options are, you know?

I know you want results quickly, but I have to agree with your sister here. 1000 cals or less a day is not particularly healthy, especially not when you're making it an abrupt change like that. After a while you'll probably feel exhausted and get dizzy spells cause your body just isn't used to that little energy. (Or at least that's what happened to me when I tried a 1000-cal diet for all of... four? days back in jr. high.) 1200 (or so) cals make it easier to stick to the diet simply because you won't have to feel so damn hungry all of the time, and it's way better for you health-wise. And if you're exercising as well you should be doing just fine anyway.

Also, lean meat is good for you, so don't cut that out. Proteins and all that. It's the carbs that are evil.

I know it's been said but I agree that cutting your calories that low can't possibly be good for you especially at this stage and even more so with your exercising. You're going to end up passing out. Plus, you're body will react poorly to it; thinking you are starving yourself, it'll start to actually convert more to fat. (Not that I'm an expert.)

I'm proud of you for making such a lifestyle change though. I don't think I could do it.

A burrito! That's hilarious! Honestly, is there anything that hasn't happened at Wal-Mart.
