[Carpe - sort of open?] Learn to fly before falling...

Jan 19, 2013 14:40

One of the benefits of being a bird meant faster healing time. Iggy's wing had healed the week prior, but he'd been doing small exercises before attempting flight after he'd unwrapped the bandages Zhane had been kind enough to put on them ( Read more... )

Alcuin is looking for Icarus. It has bothered him for days that he may have been rude to his new friend, and his sister's foster son, in the excitement of the reunion with Phedre. For the past few days, he has kept an eye out for Icarus, but has seen nor hair nor feather of him, and has finally become worried enough to go looking. He hasn't mentioned this to Phedre, of course. If Phedre was worried or wanted Alcuin to help, she would mention it. This is entirely personal. He fears he was rude to Icarus, and wishes to befriend him. Carrying a basket with some fruit tarts and sandwiches (and of course the requisite thermos of tea), Alcuin goes searching, and at last turns up Icarus in his tree.

"Icarus?" he approaches slowly, giving him space. He can see that Icarus looks in some way upset, and is aware that he might not be welcome. "It's Alcuin."

Hope this is okay. Alcuin's been wanting to get to know Iggy and feels bad about neglecting him in the reunion with Phedre.

Icarus' wings tighten a moment, then fold back and he adopts a less closed off posture, tilting his head down towards Alcuin's voice.

"Sorry. Didn't hear you come up. Did you need something? Is mom alright?"

It's all groovy! Iggy knows he's being silly, and neither of us expect anything less from such a big reunion. ^^

"She's lovely," Alcuin assures him. "Bored and restless, of course, but Phedre is better suited to getting into trouble and saving the realm than lying in bed. I came to find you. I brought lunch, if you're hungry. May I come up?"

"It's alright," Iggy insists. "I can come down there if that's easier." He opens his wings a bit, revealing the pure white underside, to help control his jump down.

There's been a lot going on in Sophie's family and she's been mostly kept out of those discussions between her uncle and her mother, and she's been getting frustrated, so here's a pre-teen who's taken a much longer walk than she should have.

Iggy's wingspan and white feathers do stand out in the leafless landscape, so eventually she spots him and wanders that way.

"... Iggy? Iggy!" She's calling him at the top of her lungs.

That's a voice that serves to cheer him up a bit, and Iggy jumps to the ground to greet Sophie.

"Hey. Keep shouting like that and you'll wake up the whole forest."

Well, that was easy! Sophie does wish everyone were so compliant, but then again, that does make Iggy so very special to her.

She grins, and runs to him, and he might get tackled by a little ten-year old. She’s hugging his legs, and grinning.

“Your wing is alright! I’m so glad!”

"Yup, it's all better. I'll probably start flying again soon." He bends enough to give her a hug. "How are you? You doing alright?"

Phedre is on the mend, and though she cannot walk long distances, she can stand on both her legs, ideally with some support. Iphigenia was out, Iggy was out, Alcuin wasn't coming, Muraki was also not at home, and so....

Restless and in need of a change of air, the anguissette has decided to be reckless.

So she's out, walking slowly, fumbling along a beaten path.

After a time she'll find a tree stump, and tired, she might sit. To break the silence, she'll sing one of those Skaldi hearth songs she knew in another life. Perhaps she happens to be under Iggy's tree?

Being outside is a good way to get Iggy's attention and he listens to her sing for a moment before speaking when there's a break.

"You shouldn't be outside alone mom," he says from above her. "Are you at least bundled up warm?"

Phedre looks up, and smiles a little. She hadn’t exactly spotted Iggy - for once, the anguissette wasn’t entirely aware of her surroundings.

“I’m bundled up warmly,” she replies reassuringly, “though my voice may be strained if you keep on having me call upwards, love. Won’t you come down, and see your old mother?”

Iggy shifts a bit, then opens his wings enough to slow his fall as he hops out of the tree and to the ground.

"You're not old," he insists, crouching down beside her.

Well, Zhane was just out grumping, actually - he's been harassed by some medieval nut, guilted for being honest about his feelings, and his best friend's been a bit weird about things, and.... yeah.

So there's a silver ranger kicking some snow along the path, looking to get a bit of peace, actually.

He'll spot Iggy up in the tree, though, and...

"... Iggy? What the heck are you doing up there?"

Iggy doesn't think twice about his reply.

"I forgot to fly south for the winter and now I'm stuck."

That calls a chuckle from Zhane - he does enjoy quipping with his friend.

“Right,” he calls, “brilliant. Mind if I come up there with you? I’m trying to avoid a particularly annoying knight.”

The Silver Ranger could do with a little bit of companionable solitude, actually.

Iggy blinks, then snorts a laugh, shifting over on the tree branch. "Sure, you can come up. Why are you being chased by a knight again? What did I miss?"
