what I do on Saturday

Seated on one of the couches in the Kashtta's lounge is Dave, who is currently reading up on some magical history.

The book on the table in front of him is really, really large, and extremely old.

Seated on the nearby couch is Gilderoy, who just can't seem to figure out how the remote works. He's familiar with television, of course, but as far as he' ( Read more... )

Leon's nervous about this whole thing. He's still not entirely sure that giving himself ability with a weapon is a good idea, even if he's not likely to walk around carrying his weapon.

He's almost starting to regret agreeing to this, except he likes Kenzie and learning would be really cool and. He really needs to stop pacing outside of the Kashtta and just go in already.

Leon wipes his palms on his shorts and then goes through the front door of the Kashtta, trying his best to smile and appear not completely nervous while not coming across as an overconfident jerk.

"Hi!" he says, then almost winces at how cheery he sounds. "I'm. Here."

Leon is not very good at conversations. Hence, he just states the obvious all the time. Yay?

Luckily for Leon, Kenzie is largely disinterested in that thing known as emotions. Leon's welcome to be as nervous or as overconfident as he wants-when it comes to archery, this girl is all business and focus. Unless it messes with his ability to aim, she's cool with whatever he chooses to feel.

"Leon, hey! You ready?" She shoves the bow and arrow set he'll be using at him, all smiles. It's definitely a beginner's set.

Leon takes the set and glances at it, totally unsure how to hold it. Okay. Faster thinking here, kiddo. He can't act like an idiot when he has a weapon in his hand.

"I'm ready if you're ready," he flashes her a small grin. This is going to be fun, Leon. Seriously it is. And if it isn't, well. There's no point in being all uncomfortable about it. It's just going to make things more awkward. "To the park?"

He's allowed to not know! Kenzie doesn't expect that touching it will suddenly imbue him with knowledge.

"To the park!" CHAAAARGE.

Not really.

Kenzie leads the way, walking at a fairly relaxed pace. "So, what's up?"

Luna walks into the lounge with a small box full of scrap bits of cloth, rope and other sorts of materials. She's going to make herself a new lion hat and a present for Harry's birthday. Surrounding herself with things that remind her of home is also comforting for her too.

Wand tucked safely behind her head for when she needs it, she places her box down on the floor in a corner and sits down.

And then she hears the sound of a peacock.

She blinks owlishly and turns her head to the young man sat on one or the sofas. "There's a peacock in the lounge," she says simply.

"Yeah," Dave says, without looking up. He's in the middle of a fascinating passage on Excalibur.

"I'm pretty sure he was a guy a few minutes ago, but I wasn't really paying attention."

Beat.

"Though that would probably explain the clothes."

The peacock hurries over to Luna the moment he spots her, feathers all ruffled and wings shaking.

Luna said she could talk to animals, right?

So he honks at her.

Luna! It's Professor Lockhart!

"Oh, I see..." Luna raises her eyebrows, smiling a little at how unfazed he seemed to be. "Is this normal for Chicago?" But then she has a peacock hurrying over to her, speaking to her in a voice she recognizes.

And she just stares. Then stares a little more.

"... Professor?" she tilts her head to the side, "Ohhh, so this is what the Rift did to you,"

She didn't think she would be able to talk to people as animals. Luna likes her Rift ability very much.

Dylan has to admit, part of her is dreading this conversation. Her time spent at home never seems to leave her head. She feels sad, awkward and good at the same time, with a dozen more emotions thrown in the mix as well.

But she needs to talk to someone about it and Fletcher's probably one of the only people she has left she can trust. He'll understand, at least. Or so she hopes.

She meets Fletcher on the way as he's just managing to flee from the park.

"What happened?" she asks with a curious head tilt.

"My sword is possessed," he says, grabbing her hand and leading her away. "I'll explain on the walk as soon as we're away from the park."

Except then he abruptly stops and looks at her.

And then he hugs her. Tightly.

"Welcome back, by the way."

"Oh.." Dylan raises her eyebrows at that as she's suddenly pulled along. She actually thinks that's pretty cool. But then.. she remembers, the tree. And as deranged as she might be, she manages to put two and two together. "Maybe the Rift.. uhmm, changed it," she utters.

And then the hug totally catches her off guard. Not that she doesn't like it, just that she doesn't really get them that often.

So she stands rather awkwardly in a rather lung crushing hold for a few moments before she finally hugs back.

"Ummm.. thanks.." she murmurs with a faint smile.

He suspects the Rift has everything to do with it, as it does with many things.

Eventually, Fletcher pulls away, looking slightly sheepish. "Right. We should go. D'you want to go anywhere specific, or...? In case you wanted to talk. In the interest of privacy and such, y'know."

Her purple hair is waist-length and a dark shade of plum today. It moves with her as she walks into into the lounge. She's looking for a new dee-bee-dee. Everything in her personal collection has been watched.

Tonks stops when she sees the peacock. "Who the bloody hell let a peacock in the building?" She's not angry or annoyed, she's just surprised.

The peacock looks at her.

Really, really looks.

...her hair is lovely.

He walks over to her and squawks. Maybe she can fix this?

Tonks looks at the peacock. "What's the matter with you? Are you stuck or something?"

If Tonks were lucky enough to have Luna's ability to speak with animals, she'd hear something along the lines of, "YES I'M BLOODY WELL STUCK."

As it is, she does not, so all she'll hear are peacock noises.

Gilderoy shakes his wings at her.

Anne is worried.

Her mind immediately jumps to the worst conclusions and she has no idea what's going on with Kenzie or why they'd need to talk, but she figures if her assistance is actually needed it must be pressing.

Which is why she makes it to the Kashtta quickly and is still sort of breathless once she finds Kenzie.

"What's going on?"

"Shh! Upstairs." Kenzie grabs Anne's wrist and practically drags her to the elevator, down the fourth floor hall, and into her room. Once the door's shut and locked, she leans against it and stares at her friend.

"I have a stupid crush on some guy and I kind of asked him out on a date except he has no idea it's a date because I didn't ask so much as told him he had to take me out for lunch because he was going to die."

In other words, WHAT DO?

Anne is dragged to the elevator, down the fourth hall, and into Kenzie's room. She's so breathless she falls over, sinking into the foot of the bed, trying to catch her breath.

... Okay, and she was not expecting that. "Ah! I should've known. Do I know this guy? Who is it? Is he cute?" she asks, firing off question after question. She only stops long enough to say, "You probably want to leave out the... dying part next time."

"Um."

WHAT IF ANNE DOES KNOW HIM?

Oh god. Kenzie is going to die of embarrassment right now.

"...his name is Xander."
