Quite alone, or so she believes, Cassie Riddle can be found up on the roof of the Kashtta Tower today. She hasn't left her room in over a week and it's been driving her crazy. She needed to get out and some air without walking the streets - so the roof seemed the best place for her to be. Even though it's pouring it down - she's stood, leaning ( Read more... )

Castiel feels more for the people he cares about than he'd like to admit. He doesn't feel specifics -- he doesn't know all the answers before he gets there -- but it's almost as though he can sense that she's in trouble.

In all reality, it's probably just a coincidence that he winds up on the roof at the same time as she does, but that doesn't change the fact that he is worried about her. Living in Chicago has been ... complicated, to say the least.

"Hello, Cassie."

Cassie doesn't look up at first, she continues to stare down at the streets below. Her knuckles have gone white as she grips on to the railings. If he's likely to notice, she's a great deal skinnier than the last time they saw one another - even though it was only around two weeks ago. She's not eating, not that she's forcing herself not to - she just doesn't have the energy or just forgets.

"Hi Cas," she utters, most of her voice muffled with the rain.

She slowly turns her head to look at him wearily and swallows hard. "I wasn't going to jump,"

"I didn't think you were." And that is sincere, not that anything Castiel says ever isn't. He takes a step closer to her and extends a hand, wanting to pull her away from the railing and closer to the door. It is a very windy city after all.

"But it's still a long way down."

Cassie frowns for a moment, "I wouldn't blame anyone if they thought so," she says quietly, turning back to look at the streets. Iris did, though. She jumped. Did she die straight away? Was it painless? Or did she suffer because it wasn't high enough?

"Maybe," she says after a long pause, holding back a sob that rises in her throat. She glances at his outstretched hand for a few moments before very quietly and slowly taking it.

"I still like it up here, though. It's quiet,"

Charlie is not someone Dylan knows.

He hasn't had that pleasure, but when he sees a small child wandering the streets, he can't help but try and at least help. He stops halfway down the street and crouches down in front of her, looking concerned.

"You alright there, little darlin'? Seem like you're a little lost."

Dylan freezes up at the stranger who's stopped in front of her. She's not supposed to talk to strangers. She cowers a little, her hands reaching up to pull at her hair in her distress. Her lower lip wobbles and her wings flutter in worry.

"I w-want my Momma," she says in a breaking voice. "I.. I can't find her,"

Her six year old self still believes that she's alive, that she's just lost her. She doesn't realise that she's really meant to be thirty seven years old, even though there's some strange feeling that she's meant to be deep down.

Charlie has no inkling that she's supposed to be thirty-seven either, but he does know how to help a child in need. He takes a breath and nods for a minute, glancing around the street to see if there is a mother looking for her daughter.

"Do you know where you last saw her?"

Dylan watches him anxiously as he looks around. She guesses he must be a nice man - even if he is a stranger. But as much as she wants her Mother - she doesn't know where she is at all.

"I don't remember," she says sadly, sniffling back tears, "I just woke up. And all I know is I want my Momma,"

She's really not any help at all. Sorry, Charlie.

By the time Bela finds Capa in the cafeteria, he seems to have been sleeping for a very long time. It's not that she's concerned at all for his well-being. Unless she knows you well, it's highly likely that she doesn't care whether you sleep in the cafeteria or in the streets. It's what he's sleeping on that has Bela's attention.

She makes her way over, peering at some of the documents as though she's trying to discern what they're about. At first she can see that most of the paperwork is about the rift, but anything actually worth reading disappears beneath Capa himself. She reaches forward slowly, trying to pull one of the pages off the table so that she can read it. She's going slowly, as to let the man stay sleeping, but who knows if that's going to work.

Capa's completely oblivious to the woman snooping around him. He lets out a soft sigh, shifting his head slightly. He hears the words someone most dear to him smoke: Every time I close my eyes? It's always the same. The surface of the sun. He appears unsettled, his brow full of emotion. He feels worry, wonder and loss at the same time.

And in his dream, he still falls and falls - faster into the surface of the sun.

Just before he hits the flares, he lets out a yell and bolts upright, panting heavily.

"What?! I just-" he looks at the woman, still unable to focus right. "Oh,"

Bela blinks at him, his papers in her hand, but the confusion enough to keep her from realizing that she shouldn't have been snooping. She frowns for a moment, before actually speaking.

"Are you alright?"

Capa blinks, trying to wake himself up properly. He straightens up, looking more than a little flustered before he picks up a piece of paper he knocked off the table. He looks at the woman once more, his mouth open to speak and feeling incredibly awkward.

"I dozed off," he says lamely.

He notices that she's holding a few of his papers, "... can I help you with anything?"

Buffy sees the whole thing.

She knows this is really just an example of poor life choices, and he probably should pay for what he's done, but Buffy has a soft spot in her heart for the underdog. The guy doesn't look like he's looking for a fight. So she does what Buffy does best.

She helps.

"Hey, big guy. Do you really think he's worth it?"

Rufus is ready for the smack, it's not going to hurt too much - it's the visible damage he's worried about more than anything. Bruises are not pretty. He'd also like to assure he's no underdog, he is a hobag gentleman.

The man pauses mind swing and turns his head to stare at Buffy, he's still angry. "What's it to you, blondie?" he sneers.

Rufus blinks and looks at the Wanderer curiously. He shakes his head, he doesn't want any Wanderers to get hurt. That's been happening too much lately, "Oh, hun - I don't think you should get involved," he murmurs quietly, cringing slightly.

She shakes her head. Buffy is a tough girl. She can manage.

"Just saying. Apperances can be decieving. Is it really worth getting your ass kicked over the fact that he can't keep his mouth shut?"

Now which appearance is she referring to? That's the question.

Rufus opens his mouth to speak again, but promptly shuts it. He knows Wanderers aren't like angels and demons - but to be honest, he's not met many. Who knows what they're really like? Maybe this one can take care of herself.

He raises an eyebrow at her, "You make it sounds like me talking's a bad thing, cutie," he says in a mock-hurt tone.

"Hey, he hit on my girl!" the guy says, pointing at Rufus with a scowl. The girlfriend, however, does not want this confrontation either. She pulls at her boyfriend's arm. "Come on, stop it,"

After a few moments of glaring at both Buffy and Rufus, the guy gives up and stalks off, girlfriend in tow.

"Well then," says Rufus with a low whistle.

/was going to give her to someone new, but she misses him ohshiny_tomatos April 15 2011, 22:19:42 UTC
Parker hasn't seen Capa in awhile. It's partially her fault, because she hasn't been out and about as much as usual. She knows that sometime they will have to talk even more than they had, and she really isn't ready for that.

Even so, when she wanders upon him sleeping she can't help but grin. She wants to mess with him. It takes her a moment to consider just what she wants to do, but not long later it comes to her.

She closes her eyes and concentrates very hard. She has only recently found herself able to bring on her Rift change if she wants it very badly, and right now she wants it. It isn't much longer before she feels what is becoming familiar to her, a slight shiver down her spine and all through her skin. She looks down at her hands and doesn't see them there. She beams.

She creeps over to where Capa is sleeping and picks up one of the kittens, then holds it on top of his head. She silently giggles as the kitten bats at his hair with its paws and waits for him to notice.

bawww, Parker. <3333 i_robert_capa April 15 2011, 22:54:22 UTC
It takes a while for him to notice the kitten being held over him now batting at his hair. At first, he thinks he's just dreaming the movement - that his dream is that realistic, he can feel his hair move as he falls through the air - forever hurtling into the sun's surface.

And then, finally, Capa frowns in his sleep. He makes a face and groans, reaching up to flatten his hair down again. "No, stop," he utters in his sleep. He continues to fall through the din, surrounded by solar flares. Maybe he is just dreaming. The firey storm surrounds him. "Stop... Ah... Nngh.."

She pulls the kitten away so he can't reach it, but then places it back again. She gives it enough room to set some of it's weight on Capa's head, but she's still careful to hold onto the kitten. She doesn't want it to fall or get flung away.

She also starts to whisper softly. "The aliens are eating your braaaain."

Capa grumbles in his sleep, twitching his head to the side at the light pressure to the back of his head. "Impossible," he utters in a matter of factly tone. "Or.." he frowns - maybe he's not falling anymore. He's still on the ship.

"Icarus, please... let Kaneda know about the... aliens. I need to be able to deliver the payload," he says with a sigh, "Need my brain,"

Yes, Parker. Capa thinks you're a spaceship.
