Quite alone, or so she believes, Cassie Riddle can be found up on the roof of the Kashtta Tower today. She hasn't left her room in over a week and it's been driving her crazy. She needed to get out and some air without walking the streets - so the roof seemed the best place for her to be. Even though it's pouring it down - she's stood, leaning heavily against the safety railings at the edge of the rooftop, not caring about being soaked to the skin.
She gazes down below at the rainy city with a uncommon loathing and sadness. The last three weeks or so has been extremely difficult for her and as she watches the tiny dots and blurs below her, she can't help but hate this world more than she ever thought possible. This place is evil, a disease. It takes good, beautiful, brilliant people and it destroys them. First Robin died, the result of a fellow Wanderer going insane from Chicago and now Iris is gone. Her heart aches for the younger girl, she'd come to love her like a little sister and now, like probably so many others, the city destroyed her. She's gone, and Cassie couldn't do anything about it. She couldn't help her, she'd failed. She'd so fiercely protected those she loved and she'd just... failed.
She grips onto the railings, anyone watching might think she'll jump. Cassie wouldn't blame them, she wants out - but she doesn't think she'd ever be able to bring herself to that.
Elsewhere, Robert Capa is fast asleep in the Cafeteria of Kashtta. His head rests in his arms as he dreams of falling into the sun. All his work is laid out on the table before him; all the research he's ever done on the Rift, all the notes he's gathered (some of them from Hermione - not the one who's here, though. The Hermione he once knew a long time ago). He wants to work harder more than ever now, he knows that this city is getting worse. He wants people to be safe, he wants them to be able to go home. And as he dreams in his troubled sleep, one of the Tower's kittens begins to paw and play with his work. Someone better wake him up before it's all totally ruined.
Out on the streets of Chicago, Dylan is wandering around. The Rift has turned her into a child for the day and she's now no older than six years old. Her clothes hang on her, she looks like someone's daughter playing in their mother's clothes. She looks distressed, eyes full of tears and a considerately smaller version of her wings fluttering at her back. Not only does she looks like a child, she know thinks like one. She just wants to find some one she knows, but more importantly, her mother.
And for the first time in years, she remembers her name. Her real name.
Finally, Rufus Blake, is stood outside a bar trying to avoid a fight. He was on his way into the bar when a couple came out. And he couldn't help himself. He started to hit on the girl, because it's a crime to ignore a pretty girl when he sees one. He was only being friendly, honestly. But the drunk boyfriend didn't take too kindly to it... And so there's now a demon backing off with hands raised in defense, about to receive a punch to the face. He doesn't want a fight, he was just being friendly. He's a lover, not a fighter.
