I HAD TO. enoughtocarry March 16 2011, 02:44:50 UTC
After Sam's disastrous journal entry over the network, he took it upon himself to fix his computer, seeing as how Dean would not take the matter seriously. He, of course, has no idea the girl trying to save the kitten is the same girl that replied to his entry. But because he's Sam, he's going to approach her, computer tucked safe into his satchel, and he's going to quicken his stride when he sees her fall.

"You okay there?" he asks, crouching down to the ground.

He is freakishly tall, Lola.

He will save the kitten if you need him to.

WHEEEE. SAMMY! TOTALLY AWESOME. <3 therebelruns March 16 2011, 02:56:41 UTC
Lola makes a face, this is actually starting to hurt. That's the seventh time she's landed on her backside and the ground is still pretty hard from winter. She's staring up at the kitten - who in turn - is peering down at her in the tree. She's determined to get it out. Because. It's a kitten and they are cute and fluffy and as grown up as she can be - she's still just a kid.

She turns at the voice with wide eyes, having not noticed him approach. Yes, you are most definitely freakishly tall Sam. Even more so to a tiny girl. "I am fine," she says with a nod.

And then, she points up at the tree. "There is a kitten stuck in the tree, see?" she frowns, "I cannot reach - can you help me? Give me a boost?"

"As long as you're sure," Sam says, though he's going to scan her for any signs of discomfort or an injury. He follows her line of vision and finds the kitten perched up on one of the tallest branches.

Well then.

"I can do something better than that," Sam says, and he won't give her a boost since he still thinks that fall was kind of a nasty one, but he'll reach for the kitten without needing to climb up the tree so high because... it's Sam.

Once they're both back on the ground he'll hand it over to Lola. "Is it yours?"

Lola nods and pulls herself to her feet, dusting herself off. Yep, definitely no serious boo-boos. "I am good," she says brightly.

She's actually not too bad at climbing trees, Sam. She came from the forties, no television and computers to play with back then. Climbing trees and being outside was generally the only thing to do for children. Well, that and she used to live in forest after all - so she got plenty of practice.

Nevertheless, she is happy to have the help and grins as he climbs up. She was wondering how she'd get down again. The drop from the closest branch to the ground is a long one for her and she wouldn't want to hurt the kitten.

"Thank you!" she squeals with delight. Yay for safe kitten! She takes a moment to snuggle the kitten, "Oh no - I just wanted to rescue it anyway," she tells him, "It makes a change to fighting monsters,"

LOLA YOU GET ALL THE WINCHESTERS TODAY APPARENTLY. :> thehandsomeone March 16 2011, 03:06:53 UTC
Dean is walking past the common rooms when he spots Lola. At first, he's just glad to see her doing something a little safer than fighting monsters by herself, but then he spots the food, and he walks over with a grin.

There really is a lot of food there. Even Dean, who could probably eat his own body weight no really, is impressed.

"Wow," he says, giving a little whistle. "I guess it's fair to say cheeseburgers are going good for you, huh?"

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY. :> therebelruns March 16 2011, 03:13:01 UTC
Lola does need a lot of food, Dean. She does do a great deal of running and moving through solid objects and that leaves her hungry enough to eat a small horse. Or something. The narration doesn't even know. Besides, she definitely has to agree with him: cheeseburgers are a glorious, glorious thing. Which is why she bought so many. She is so happy right now.

She pauses mid-chew and smiles before swallowing, "Hello, Dean!" she says cheerily. She looks down at her cheeseburger and grins a little more fully, "These... these are amazing. They are... I like these very much,"

She reaches for a container of fries and offers him them, "Here, I would give you a cheeseburger but I know you can't eat them,"

There is no disagreeing here, okay. Dean looks back on the days of bacon cheeseburger-eating with the kind of fondness most people reserve for old friends and dead pets.

"I'm glad," Dean says, smiling back. His eyes widen a little when she offers the fries. He doesn't want to just go around taking her food, but far be it from Dean to turn down French fries. The fact that the Rift hasn't taken those away from Dean probably helps him with not punching the thing in the metaphorical face.

...Anyway. Dean takes the container, then pops a few still-hot fries into his mouth. "These are great," he says. "Thanks."

The narration can see a special bond forming with cheeseburgers. She loves them as much as she loves candy. And that's a lot of love, considering her age.

"I am so happy you told me about them, I would have never tried them otherwise," she tells him. "So, thank you," Take them, Dean. Lola has plenty of fries. No, really. It's probably a better thing if she shares them. She'll never eat them all before they get cold. And it's a shame to see fast food go cold. It never tastes nice re-heated.

She grins and laughs, "You are welcome!" she says before taking another bite of her burger. "I have milkshake too!" She takes a moment to close her book, becoming more focused on him.

"Oh, and did you fix Sam's computer?" she asks with raised eyebrows, "You should not have broken it trying to watch Asian girls singing in strange positions," She wrinkles her nose a little, "You are weird, Dean,"

Truth be told, Iris is just as scared of seeing Lola as Lola is of seeing her. She'd said-- well, intimated, the actual details struck through in a last-minute change of heart-- that it wouldn't make any difference if Lola saw her mutilated wings, that she had little to hide from one who already knew.

But in her heart of hearts, Lola knowing is still different frm Lola seeing. She'd been overwhelmed with joy when her friend had first run across her in the corridors of the Kashtta, newly-winged and full of pride. She doesn't want Lola's image of her now to be of the pathetic creature she's become, her features drawn with emotional exhaustion, her one wing torn savagely from her back ( ... )

Something in her stomach drops as she enters the room. Lola doesn't want to, but it's hard not to look at her wings; her poor, beautiful wings. There's a rush of emotions that don't show on her face. There's rage and loathing - these people are no better than Franco's swine she fought so hard against back home. They almost seem worse. No. They are worse. She doesn't think Franco's men would ever do anything like this.

And then, she feels shattered. Almost like someone's cut a part of her away. They both had their dreams of getting their wings - being the people they'd always wanted to be, the people they both would one day become. It was something they shared. But at this attack, the mutilation of her wings - she feels like part of their dream has been stolen ( ... )

Iris isn't expecting the hug, focused in so much on Lola's pained expression that by the time the younger girl's arms are around her, she's only just registered she moved. She hugs her back-- stiffly at first, her body tensing at any touch she hasn't initiated, wary of Lola's hands inadvertently brushing her scars. But she can feel the sincerity and caring in her friend's embrace, and soon finds herself sinking into it, hugging Lola back with two arms, one wing, and just as much fervour.

"Thank you," is all she can croak for a while, hoping the sheltering embrace of her soft feathers, her periodic stroking hands on Lola's back, will do the work of conveying her feelings. Lola doesn't know it, but with her simple act, the naked outrage and compassion that showed in her words, she's done more to console Iris than anyone has in a long while. She understands. She doesn't have to say anything for Iris to know that. She knows what this meant to Iris, what it meant to them, and she feels the pain of something beautiful torn away ( ... )

This will be happy at some point dammit. Lola does not want to leave Iris with all of the sad. :< therebelruns March 19 2011, 19:34:03 UTC
Lola holds onto her friend tightly. The fact she's hugging back feels like a good sign. Even if it is a little hesitant at first. She tries not to touch her wings. She respects the whole non-touching of wings rule - but if she might accidentally brush them - it's completely an accident which she'll be very sorry for ( ... )

[OOC: I needed to tag this even if I had to do so delayed. ;;]

David always seems to happen upon Lola in Grant Park. It's like it's their meeting place. He glances at her as she tries to climb up the tree again, and it takes him a second to realize there's a kitten in the tree.

There's something about the sight that makes him smile a little.

"Need a lift?"

He gestures to the branches over her head. He is much taller than her after all. It wouldn't take much to hoist her up to grab hold of the kitten if she wanted.

[OOC: Delayed is totally okay! Yay for David! <3]

Lola pauses mid-climb, her limbs tightly wrapped around the tree trunk as she tries to shimmy up. She is going to get this kitten if the last thing she'll ever do. Because even kittens need saving too!

"Hello, David!" she says brightly, happy to see him.

She slips slightly as she glances up at the branches above, her face set in concentration. The kitten paws at the air as it reaches down, mewing softly.

"If it is okay?" she asks before nodding, "Yes, that would be most appreciated,"

David smiles a little at her response to seeing him.

"Hi," he says, waving her way as he walks over to the trunk of the tree, and he examines the branches too to try to figure out how she could best be lifted up there, which branches she'll most need to reach.

He winces when she seems to slip, and he's ready to catch her if she falls too.

"It's okay. I wouldn't offer unless it was okay," David assures her and then he moves up against the trunk, trying to catch hold of her to lift her up high enough to hit those higher branches.

Lola just grins at him. She'd wave too, but then she'll probably end up on the ground. Again. "Brilliant!" she says happily, "Thank you!" Yay for tall teenage boys!

With his help, she manages to catch a hold of one of the higher branches and tries to hoist herself up. It takes a few times, but she's determined to do it. Then, clambering along the branches and managing to be on a right enough level, she reaches up for the kitty. "Here, kitty. Come on," she utters with a 'come hither' gesture, "We're here to save you,"

After what seesms like forever, she manages to grab the kitten. Holding it close to her chest, she peers down at David. Well, this won't be easy. She carefully edges back to the trunk of the tree and begins an awkward climb down.

"I cannot come down any further," she says with a frown as she sits down on the lowest branch she can - looking down at the still pretty big gap between her and the ground, "Can you catch me?"

Nellie is wandering around today just trying to sort thoughts out in her head. She didn't sleep well last night so she's tired and out of her usual pep. Something draws her towards one of the Kashtta's common rooms, and when she sees Lola there with a book and all of her cheeseburgers she can't help but smile.

"Looks like a good time to me," she says softly, not wanting to startle the girl.

Lola looks up at the voice, not startled in the slightest. It's a little hard for people to startle her, she's used to the odd fright every now and then. She smiles, glancing down at her book and cheeseburger before swallowing and laughing softly.

"These make me.. really happy," she says with a content sigh. "Would you like one? I have more than enough here,"

No really, she does. She spent probably too much money on the things. But she can see Nellie looks a little down and cheeseburger happiness is exactly what she needs.

It's hard not to grin at that invitation, and Nellie nods while moving over. "Sure, I'd love one. They always make me happy, too." She sits down by the girl and crosses her legs. Cheeseburgers always remind her of going out to dinner with her father as a kid, when he used to try and get her to try new things, but all she ever wanted was kid food. Normal kid food.

She also takes note of the book and nods to it. "That was always one of my favorites. Still is, really."

Lola has never had such memories sadly. This is the first time she's ever had cheeseburgers. Ever. She's not exactly a normal kid due to era displacement, but she's kind of learning to be one. She definitely like the cheeseburgers though. It certainly makes a change from rabbit and deer.

She pauses, waiting until she's sat down and passes her one, "Here you go, enjoy!" Lola is spreading the happiness a la cheeseburger, folks. <3

"Really?" she asks excitedly. She is always more than happy to talk about books! "How many times? I have read it seventeen times already - and each time feels like the first. It is so wonderful!"
