I HAD TO. enoughtocarry March 16 2011, 02:44:50 UTC
After Sam's disastrous journal entry over the network, he took it upon himself to fix his computer, seeing as how Dean would not take the matter seriously. He, of course, has no idea the girl trying to save the kitten is the same girl that replied to his entry. But because he's Sam, he's going to approach her, computer tucked safe into his satchel, and he's going to quicken his stride when he sees her fall.

"You okay there?" he asks, crouching down to the ground.

He is freakishly tall, Lola.

He will save the kitten if you need him to.

WHEEEE. SAMMY! TOTALLY AWESOME. <3 therebelruns March 16 2011, 02:56:41 UTC
Lola makes a face, this is actually starting to hurt. That's the seventh time she's landed on her backside and the ground is still pretty hard from winter. She's staring up at the kitten - who in turn - is peering down at her in the tree. She's determined to get it out. Because. It's a kitten and they are cute and fluffy and as grown up as she can be - she's still just a kid.

She turns at the voice with wide eyes, having not noticed him approach. Yes, you are most definitely freakishly tall Sam. Even more so to a tiny girl. "I am fine," she says with a nod.

And then, she points up at the tree. "There is a kitten stuck in the tree, see?" she frowns, "I cannot reach - can you help me? Give me a boost?"

"As long as you're sure," Sam says, though he's going to scan her for any signs of discomfort or an injury. He follows her line of vision and finds the kitten perched up on one of the tallest branches.

Well then.

"I can do something better than that," Sam says, and he won't give her a boost since he still thinks that fall was kind of a nasty one, but he'll reach for the kitten without needing to climb up the tree so high because... it's Sam.

Once they're both back on the ground he'll hand it over to Lola. "Is it yours?"

Lola nods and pulls herself to her feet, dusting herself off. Yep, definitely no serious boo-boos. "I am good," she says brightly.

She's actually not too bad at climbing trees, Sam. She came from the forties, no television and computers to play with back then. Climbing trees and being outside was generally the only thing to do for children. Well, that and she used to live in forest after all - so she got plenty of practice.

Nevertheless, she is happy to have the help and grins as he climbs up. She was wondering how she'd get down again. The drop from the closest branch to the ground is a long one for her and she wouldn't want to hurt the kitten.

"Thank you!" she squeals with delight. Yay for safe kitten! She takes a moment to snuggle the kitten, "Oh no - I just wanted to rescue it anyway," she tells him, "It makes a change to fighting monsters,"

Sam's not too bad at it, either! Dean would say climbing the tree would be completely unnecessary, as Sam is at eye level with it, but Sam often disregards a lot of what Dean says. It's how they show their brotherly affection, really.

He gives her a small grin as he hands her back the kitten.

"You're welcome. We're going to have to find its--"

The rest of what he was going to say is drowned out by what Lola says instead. "You fight monsters?" he asks. Sam does not approve. She is a tiny girl! She has no business fighting monsters. Rescuing kittens, yes. Fighting the big bad... no. Sorry, Lola. Sam's like that.

Lola is just going to snuggle the kitten a little more. For it is warm and fluffy and good for snuggling.

His shock at her words is never going to get old. The amount of times she's heard the disbelief could get almost annoying for her. But not really. These days, she's just amused. She's proud of what she does, even if adults don't understand it.

Besides, she used to be in a war. Monsters seem like a piece of cake compared to that.

"Of course I do," she says with a nod, "You do not think it is only for grown ups to do, surely?"

The kitten mews and Lola giggles, she's probably not helping in trying convince you, Sam. "I fight them because it is the right thing to do. And that is something I know best of,"

Daww, Lola, if you don't find an owner for the kitty you should keep it.

"I... do think it is only for grown-ups," Sam says, smiling slightly at the matter-of-fact way with which she says these things. It's a strange kind of smile, like there's some punchline he's maybe not aware of. He wouldn't have wanted to be involved in the hunting world at all if he'd had a choice when he was Lola's age.

And she does seem to be very young and more importantly, acts in an innocent sort of way that he wouldn't--want her to lose that.

He looks down at the kitten and scritches it behind the ears. "You know best of? You grew up fighting monsters?"

Sam briefly wonders if she's a Wanderer, or if she simply was born here and grew up with the ways of Chicago.

The narration agrees! Even if she is going for a little while. She'll find the kitten again ( ... )
