My kiddo has qualms with me reading my own paper books and not his, but e-books I can get away with. I have found the virtual library to be immensely helpful since he was born, and have enjoyed many a book (admittedly, mostly cozy mysteries, which don't require scads of dedication to read). They really are gorgeous. Supposedly this is because of the amount of dust we have in the air, but the why is less important than the fact that we have some of the most amazing, colorful sunrises and sunsets that a person could imagine.

Do you guys find that a cool-off period actually helps you cool off? Or does it serve to make you angrier because you stew due to the delay of resolution?

My husband is a kind man. When I am waiting and stewing over something he keeps me laughing to keep me sane.

I have always gone barefoot. My relatives' memories of me usually include "and you always took your shoes and socks off as soon as you got in the door!" I played outside barefoot, never minding pine needles or rough, rocky soil. This continued for years. Our dishwasher and water softener both died recently (the two might just be related). The church replaced both. I predict fewer stalactites on the sink faucets and cleaner dishes! We have a nice dishwasher that- Gasp! Shock!- actually washes the dishes! It's pretty cool. :D ( Read more... )

According to my best estimate (based on experience), as long as the outdoor temperature remains below 95 degrees the back bedroom should stay cool enough that I will remain pretty deeply asleep.
