Life is rolling along. Seriously, between kittens and cheesemaking, my mood has pretty dramatically improved. It's the little things, ya know?

So I'm feeling enormously successful this weekend. I don't know what it is about home projects that just makes me so insanely happy. My monterey jack is drying, and will be waxed and put away to age tomorrow or tuesday. My first batch of ricotta is probably gonna be tonight's dinner. My second batch of ricotta is heating now and will be done ( Read more... ) -
Cheeeeeese!
I made my first batch of cheeese!! I actually made 2 batches - I put up my Monterey Jack, which should be ready in 1-3 months, and I made bonus ricotta with the leftover whey. I now have about a cup of whey, 2 lbs of proto-Jack, and a whole lot of whey to find some other use for. And I put away my 6 cups of sauerkraut, which is finally done. I ( Read more... ) -
