my chem texts have always been less serious than the rest of my books haha. section 6.3 of my current chem book is called 6.3 the first law of thermodynamics: there is no free lunch. this is after 6.1 was called 6.1 chemical hand warmers in which we learn about the author's wife, who likes skiing and hates having cold fingers and prefers mittens to gloves.

I had a textbook on human sexuality, and in the section about female reproduction and the menstrual cycle, it offered tips on how to deal with cramps. Mostly I remember the line about heat being a help and it suggesting "application of a warm water bottle or heating pad (or in a pinch, a cat) can relieve some symptoms."
