[[L sighs heavily, he'll chalk this one up to 'useless' when it comes to anything other than drawl for the moment and secures the line himself. Simple direction certainly fall on deaf ears around here.]]
[Voice] Pardner? Yes. I suppose it could be a 'thing'.

[[And here's the instructions on how to make your message private, sir. He won't be replying otherwise, already having put a lenient way on the conversation.]]

[Tom looked at his device and scowls. The last time he encountered an L ended very badly and this one didn't seem much better than the last since he was unable to use an Unhackable Security Code which really limits him.]
[Video-Text/Private] You're fine. He never shut it off. junior_copMay 4 2011, 18:53:20 UTC
[Tom's eyes narrowed, he's not happy about this at all. The last L insulted his intelligence and his ability to perform as a cop. That never left him.]
>>Why should I? It's pretty clear you want only the elite.

[[Ah good. Now he gets to meet the whining committee. Along with making this text unhackable, he sends instructions before his text detailing how to make it as such.]]
I asked a simple question, it's a yes or no question at best. Are you or are you not a detective?
[B hadn't managed to catch the beginning of L's downfall, but the noise had caught his attention. The sight before him is more than he could have ever hoped for. His eyes narrow excitedly, and instinctively a thumb is brought to his lower lip. The slouch is exaggerated even further, though he can't quite manage deadpan; the prospect of speaking to his predecessor makes neutrality more difficult to achieve than usual. Nonetheless, he shuffles closer towards the fallen man, and manages to erase the last traces of a serpent's grin from his lips before speaking. He has so many questions he wants answered that he doesn't quite know where to begin.]
Do you know who I am?
[He's all but shaking from excitement, though he's careful not to betray this. There's no way he's letting L know just how much he had longed for this moment.]
[In person] omg you did such a good job describing that! I squee'd.thumbonmylipMay 4 2011, 20:36:16 UTC
[[L winced as he pulled at his legs with his hand, then tried the other one. For the time being it was no use. He sighed tried to pull his communicator out so that Light could give him the cold shoulder, pretend not to care and or get mad at him and leave him to starve to death. ..All except his communicator is just slightly out of reach.
He noticed a small shuffling down the hall and turned his head and his body the best he could twist it to meet the source of the sound. His eyes widened as he thought for sure something was playing a trick on him, surely at this very moment he couldn't have been in the same -- Thanks Author, really. He'll repay this favour some how. Body twisted to be able to view the side that Beyond shuffled to, L remained passive and collected while staring into the face of his almost doppelganger.
For a moment, L's mind worked on a little bit of irony, sighing inwardly at the pun The Author was making him the topic of, 'Really funny, you sent "Backup", I get it.']]
[In person] \o/ JUST AS- Awww dang, wrong musebeyondsightedMay 13 2011, 04:35:23 UTC
[The moment just continues to get sweeter and sweeter. L is pinned, and unable to call for help; B might even have to brush his teeth twice tonight! Truly, B could not possibly have asked for more ideal conditions. He could sit by Lawliet and talk all day if the fancy so struck him. Perhaps he'd let L go free when the circulation to his poor feet cut off, but that wouldn't be for a while yet. Therefore B does what occurs to him as the most natural course of action--ignore the fact that L is clearly in need of help. He adopts a half crouched pose by the other man's head and leans in closely, roving his eyes over his face committing every last pore to memory. He would duplicate this face perfectly one day.]
Envision the following scenario. I don't know me. Perhaps I have amnesia. Perhaps I have dissociative personality disorder. Fill in the blanks of my identity, Doctor.

[[The twist of L's body wouldn't be comfortable for most people, but his style of self-defense taught fluidity... But no even he could hold this position forever and instantly regretted turning like this to view the person. If he moved, B would realize that he's entirely at his mercy at this point save for what he could do with hands, teeth, nails, his head if he had to. He stayed perfectly still even as B loomed over top of him, and the way his face was raked over like material better committed to memory was much too close and much too intimate for what he cared of Beyond to be with him.
L turned his head to the side at least, looking defiantly downward on the floor rather than having to submit to looking up to B.]]
Do you want my honest opinion? [[Of course he would, Beyond would have demanded nothing the less.]]

My name is Hakuba Saguru - from everything I know, we are not from the same world, but I am a detective back home, and have been working in that capacity and a few others there.

[Oh, he's been very curious about this mysterious "L", and not just because of the previous one who he never encountered...]
There are several others from your world that I've dealt with. You are, apparently, quite well-known, particularly in circles of detective work and law enforcement.
Those others didn't recognize several large and very widely publicly known cases, nor the reputations of some better-known detectives from my world. From what was said of you and identified with similar messages made previously, you worked internationally consulting for various law enforcement agencies, which would have put us working within similar circles - yet I've never heard of you, and I'd imagine that you've never heard of myself.
I would also guess that you've had no prior knowledge of cases such as the twenty-year and continuing run of Kaitou Kid, the Tanabata attack on Tokyo tower, and others that relate to things specific to my world, correct?

[[Again, listening, L gathered this information and decides that he actually DOES have at least one more smart person around here should it hit the fan. Then again it could be a good ploy by someone who was equally as intelligent as that earlier person who contacted him.
Ah well, this is the fun of the game. He's surprised that the previous him let so much out about himself, unless all this was found out by Light or Mello. ...Or Misa.]]
You're wrong in only one aspect: Assuming I've never heard of "Kaitou Kid", the international jewel thief. But you are right, I'm not from your world.

"L", huh? You got a thing for the law, Pardner?
[No, Jake's line isn't secure. He's not a technology sort. Don't blame him.]
