002 - Near - [Audio] - Please bear with him and his tl;dr

Apr 11, 2011 13:04

[A week of waiting had been enough. Near had see how the epidemic had subsided just as quickly as it had come, and all over the course of exactly one week, just as he was told. The event itself paved way for other advantages as well. Near did not have to worry about any sort of physical threats due to everyone else falling ill, and since those who ( Read more... )

My name is Eugene Watson and I wasn't aware that you were new until now. That's my fault. I'm the head of the Welcoming Committee and I have the information you need on the Manor. As far as the length of time I've been here, that's relative to the plot I came in at and the calendars are only as accurate as what the Author provided...so that's debatable. If you're looking at a solid guestimation, I would say...[pause]...oh wait, I have a date. August 10 of this past year.

Thank you, Mister Watson. Please hold while I review the information you have just forwarded to me.

[Less than a minute later.]

I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Mister Watson. This information is very useful, although it does raise a few more questions. First of all, who wrote it? I may wish to speak with them.

Also, what plot did you come in at and what would be the current date here now?

The pamphlet does need to be updated which is going to take some time. The one who wrote it is no longer here. He was written out just shortly after he and his girlfriend staged a riot throughout the Manor that created a huge disruption. January 25th is now known as Riot Day among those that cared enough to remember it and he was a good friend of mine. Eddie Riggs. In case he comes back, I figured that you should know his name.

The current date is April 11, and the year is 2010 from the marks that we gathered from the DVD's and publishing dates on the video games. That's how we estimated the year. The calendars were a bit non specific. The day of the week is generally guessed by when a new event happens. We guessed it's Mondays where the Author decides to change our environment.

June 1st for me. Oh and if you need a map, it's better to make your own. Things change a little too often too quickly and no, I don't know about space ships. Plots like this last two weeks. Three tops in cases with complexity. Wanna see something neat?

So the length of plots vary in complexity. [Most people seem to default cap them at one week. The Author must not be very smart or have short attention span then.]

What constitutes "neat?"

Have you looked out of your window? The sky is now our backward. Anyway, there has been two plots where the span has been three weeks. One of them constituted a deserted island that had an onsen. I suppose it wasn't as deserted as it was originally planned to be if it had something like that.

Oh, then there was the nuclear city Prypiat...or something. But that doesn't matter now. It was harsh and really boring. Did you know that Twinkies have a shelf life of twenty years?

[Why is this strange man talking about over-commercialized Hostess cakes? Hmm, Near will use ignore.]

It seems these plots can be quite inconsistent. Are you able to list them all in order from most to least recent as far back as you can remember?

You want to ask people with magic questions? Why?

[Fai's not admitting he knows magic, he's just curious.]

I'm interested in hearing about other worlds. Where I come from, magic does not exist.

[Does that satisfy you, Fai? 8D]

[Yes, yes it does.]

Then I can answer questions based in that department.

To start with, what are you and/or those from your world capable of?

I was killed at the manor and was sent home once before coming back. I never really understood why though.

Is that so?

I had heard about the possibility of temporary deaths at the manor, but I had found it hard to believe. Did you revive immediately or was there a waiting period? Do you know if all deaths at the manor are temporary or is it selective?

The person who wrote the information packet that Eugene Watson sent me stated that the Author may send people back when she sees that they "do not fit," although I am not completely sure what that means either. With regards to being sent home, were you sent back to the same time and place that you were taken? You seem to have maintained your memories of your first stay at the manor since you are able to recall being sent home in the first place, but did you retain those same memories upon returning to your home world?

I died on the Wednesday and I woke up on the Monday. So it had taken a few days at least before I woke up. As for if all deaths are temporary or selective so far they have all just been temporary.

I was taken to the same point, then picked up later on. With the memories when I came back it did take a while to recall actually being here before, I thought it was a dream before it all went into place.

I see.

So time did not pass at all while you were here. I take it you didn't remember anything about the manor once you were back in your home world?

I have been a resident here since May 28th. I cannot recall much myself what has transpired in my first three weeks considering I was deathly ill during the early stages of my residential stay.

I fear I will have very little to contribute to your cause for the justice system other than being a forensic scientist. An important role yes, but not one for deducing any solid claims on the forefront of the investigation process should you need my assistance.

Was this illness also part of a plot similar to the one that had just recently occurred?

[Oh, you actually think Near is asking about crimes for the sake of justice and the good of all rather than just selfish purposes. How cute. 8D]

Actually, your expertise could come in handy one day. Do you have access to any tools for conducting forensic research here?

Yes and I have adapted to the modern techniques as well. I understand that the requirement for such work is necessary to understand the nature of the crime at a microscopic level. In the meantime between crimes, I have studied on the the most advanced forensics scientist's methods. Doctor Genevoline and Doctor Brennen were the most brilliant in their chosen profession.

Modern techniques, you say. Out of curiosity, what year is it where you are from?

[This person sounds professional and could potentially be useful. But Near needs a gauge.]

Also, since I am interested in your work, would you mind showing me a picture or two of your lab or study area or some documentation you have read or perhaps even written yourself?
