Just doesn't care anymore

This rider used to have a solid position and a very admirable attitude with her horses but I feel like now she just kinda flings things together and puts it up on youtube without a second thought. Her legs slide around all over the place and she jabs her horse in the flanks with her spurs. What makes this bad_riding worthy isn't the fact that her ( Read more... )

The first video really bothers me. If she knows she's having a confidence crisis and can see that she's hauling on the horse's mouth & swinging her leg, she should also know that she can always make that jumps smaller. I can't imagine doing that to my horse; it's obvious by the end of the video that they're both pretty rattled and losing patience with each other.

Dressage saddle? Jumping? What.

Yeah the riding gets worse towards the ends of the video. She is HAULING on his mouth, knocking down rails, their tempo is off. She's not BAD, but she's not GOOD either. Not good enough to be jumping that height.

Why pat the horse for refusing and not for coming back and jumping it for her?

She may think that horse is through his potential difficult period- I've seen plenty that seem to start throwing little strops once they are a bit older and more used to carrying a rider. Part of the process I think. I wouldn't get complacent yet.

I don't know this girl, or her horse, and I do think there are very valid points being made about jumping a young horse, but I also wanted to put in my $.02, as they differ slightly with the general consensus so far ( ... )

I can not believe there are people with enough spare time on their hands to be creating pages slagging off other peoples riding I do believe you may only comment on the ability of another rider if 1) you are qualified to do so and 2) if you are evidently better, the poor young girl in the video is clearly proud of her young green horse jumping so well (with every right I would be over the moon to own such a horse) and has uploaded a video I assume to show to friends and family and anyone else who wishes to view it, and since you all seem SOOO offended I suggest you don't view it anymore. By posting it on here and slating her riding you are only giving the video more hits which I'm sure you would dislike. This is a form of bullying, the girl in the video is a young girl to whom I assume has high hopes of competing and for people like the above to waste their time being nasty and telling the world she is a bad person is disgusting! I have every right to report this to a higher authority. Have any of you considered the young girl in ( ... )

You might not want to stick around here then. I'm pretty sure that's what we're all about here on Bad_Riding. xD

Her riding in and of itself is not the issue. In fact, I think she is a very good rider.

It's her pissy attitude and the fact that she's jumping babies. Bottom line is, she's a great rider, but an awful horsewoman. That's why people are upset.

I've watched her videos since when she first bought the grey and it is true, her lower leg position has definitely got worse. She used to have a lovely, solid leg over fences but as you can see, it does now swing back qutie a bit. Whether it's because she is out of practice, lost some muscle in her lower leg through lack of riding or riding differently she should still work on fixing it over smaller jumps/no stirrup work etc. rather than jumping over huge big jumps with a shoddy position that is unfair on the horse.

And yes, I was not overly impressed with the second video. And the horse is actually 3, not yet 4. Hmm. I would not even be jumping anything more than single cross rails at home on a 3 year old, let alone a course of 2'3 jumps at at it's first show.
