This rider used to have a solid position and a very admirable attitude with her horses but I feel like now she just kinda flings things together and puts it up on youtube without a second thought. I am a vet tech at my local equine hospital. We see a lot of young horses pushed too early break down later on. It's very devestating to inform an owner that their 8yo imported wb is only going to remain pasture sound. I suggest you (and the featured rider) pick up a scientific article on the matter. It's not even been 3 months since the horse in the vid was backed and he is a very large warmblood. She should be focusing on establishing a solid foundation on the flat at this point.

Some people get lucky, and their horse never shows adverse affects. Doens't mean that's the norm or that we should all run out and rush our youngsters.

and here in the US, most (responsible) people also break/do W/T/C their horses at 3.5/4 years old. But jumping anything larger than a caveletti should wait until the horse is physically developed and also until he is mentally ready for it- the horse in the video can't even trot a straight line, he shouldn't be jumping 2'3". Also, if she's competing him at this height, it's safe to assume she's schooling him at this height or larger, which is very damaging.
