Things Ann Knows Nothing About

So I just read a snark of Welcome Back Stacey in bsc_snark, containing the following comment:

And the process sounds completely unrealistic. First of all, Mrs. M doesn’t even call a real estate agent until they get to Stoneybrook. Um…what? You mean she didn’t already have one? Then the agent just happens to have a bunch of houses available for them to look at. Again…what? You need to make appointments in advance to see houses, so if they still have someone living in them, the people can arrange to be away from the house while you walk through it. Even if the houses are vacant, you still need to set up an appointment ahead of time, so your agent has time to get codes to the lockboxes on the houses, etc. Everything about this house-hunting is all wrong.

Which made me think - Ann et al really didn't research most of the things they wrote about, did they? What are some things you noticed that were blatantly wrong?

I know there are way, way more, but some of the ones I remember:

*House hunting (see above.) Also, the Thomases' old house sells in TWO DAYS in #6.

*Japanese. Mimi writes "kodomo" in romaji in #7, and in SS #2 Claudia addresses her postcard to "Mrs L. Yamamoto". THERE IS NO L IN THE JAPANESE LANGUAGE. (Or perhaps this is just Claudia's spelling? To spell Mimi's name, is easy to do, you write M, I and M, and another M too. But no L, no L, Mimi's name has no L, and she won't be too pleased if you don't learn to spell...)

*Flying. In SS#1, Ann describes Stacey and MA "walking unsteadily" to where Kristy is sitting. Planes =/= buses, yo. Then, someone must have commented that that flight must have been crazy turbulent, because in SS#5 she implies either that the flight is turbulent the whole time, or that Jessi decided that that would be the best time to write a letter.

*Ballet. I don't do ballet, but many a comment has been made on bsc_snark about the glaring inaccuracies. Some are highlighted in this snark of #42.

*Horse riding. Again, not something I've ever done, but the comments to this snark of #54 point out numerous major inaccuracies.

*Weddings. 300-person wedding planned in 2 1/2 weeks, anyone?

*The UK. See the two British kids in SS#6, or any book featuring Victoria Fucking Kent. (I'm afraid to read SS#15.)

And how could I forget:

*Hair dye. In SS#5 Mallory dyes her RED hair BLONDE with WASH-OUT hair dye. Yeah.

What are some you've noticed?
