“Are you ok?” asked Ohno worriedly as he saw Sho hunched in the corner of the machine, looking as though he was going to throw up.
“I will be fine as long as I don’t look down,” replied Sho, his voice shaking.
Eyes back on the road, Ohno guided Yatter-pelican through the opened roof of their garage and brought it down onto its designated spot.
“Never ever open the door while we’re in mid-air ever again,” said Sho, breathing normally once he knew they were safely on the ground. Ohno merely chuckled as he unzipped his uniform and pulled off his hat and mask. Humming a random tune to himself, Ohno skipped over to the washing machine and dumped his uniform in.
“Sho, since we’re done fighting aliens, mind if I go fishing?” asked Ohno, fishing gear already in hand.
“Okay,” said Sho, who was just climbed out of the mechanical pelican, “Besides, I have stuff to do too,” smiling like a dork to himself.
However, the moment the word ‘okay’ left Sho’s mouth, Ohno had already sped off, leaving a trail of smoke behind. Sho shook his head in disbelief. Changing from his uniform into a white parka and cargo shorts, Sho headed out. After walking for a few blocks, Sho found himself in what children from the area nicknamed ‘Santa’s workshop’.
Sho walked through the glass doors, stiffening slightly as all the staff bowed to him, saying ‘Good morning, Sakurai-san’ in unison. Sho nodded awkwardly back at them. Making a mental note to tell his staff to STOP doing that every time he entered the building, Sho entered the elevators. The metals doors slid close and a while later slid open to reveal the ‘Yatterman floor’.
He knew he was being stupid, hoping that Nino would be at the very spot he found him, but he would never know unless he tried. So looking up at the area Nino were he previously found Nino, Sho prayed with all his might - empty.
Sho felt the dork-ish smile on his face fell as he turned around, ready to return to his garage. Just when he thought he was down on his luck, the familiar ringtone sounded from his pocket together with gentle vibration.
Faster than lighting, Sho whipped out his phone in excitement. Seeing an ‘unknown number’ on his screen, Sho’s delight shot higher as he pressed his phone against his ear, “Hello?” he said stupidly.
“Sho?” came Nino’s voice on their other end.
“Nino…Hi,” replied Sho awkwardly, his cheeks flushing red, “I’m glad you called…”
Silence.
Sho gulped nervously, wondering how he should ask the smaller man. It’s not like they are official or anything, after all it was just one kiss. His hand automatically flew to his lips, pressing against it as he recalled the delicious moment.
“Sho…” began Nino nervously again, “I’m on break now…so if you are free…” he trailed off.
“Of course!” cried Sho a little too enthusiastically. Bowing in apology to the people around him, Sho made his way to the lifts, “Can I meet you at the same park?”
“Sure,”
“Great! See you then,” jabbing the button, Sho willed the lifts to come faster. Once inside, Sho pressed the ‘Ground floor’ button as hard as he could, thinking that by doing so, the lifts would go faster.
One more floor and he’ll be off to meet Nino. Sho drummed his fingers against the lift walls in excitement, planning the perfect date in his head. He should bring Nino this really cool restaurant that just opened up a month ago down the street, it was classy but not too formal, and so it should be the perfect place. After that, they could just stroll around and do whatever Nino wanted to do.
A grin on his face, Sho straightened his posture and used the mirror to tidy his hair and smooth down his clothes. Just as he was patting his hair into place, the lift suddenly lurched, causing Sho to stumble into his only reflection.
“What the?” grumbled Sho, regaining his composure. Looking around, Sho noticed that the entire lift was completely still, “but I’m in between the first and second floor,” whined Sho, going over to the controls. Repeatedly jabbing his desired button, Sho tried to remain cool, but despite trying to remain calm, Sho knew exactly what was going on.
“Oh no!” wailed Sho, pounding on the doors which refuse to open. Panicking, Sho pressed the emergency button. No response. Suddenly, all the lights went out, making Sho jump, “Oh god, no,” mumbled Sho under his breath. Getting out his phone, Sho was about to dial the company’s number when he realized there was no signal.
“Argh!” yelled Sho in frustration as he bang his head on the wall. Of all days! Of all times! The lift just had to break down when he was on his way to meet Nino! He knew he should have taken the stairs! There was nothing he could do except wallow in a puddle of self-pity as he waited for someone to notice that the lift was spoiled.

Hands in his pockets, Nino kept his head low as he walked towards the park. He didn’t know why he was acting so suspicious, but he was definitely nervous. He bit his lips as he stopped in front of a traffic light. He hated how his heart was thumping so badly inside his ribcage, making his face red with excitement.
The green man came on and Nino followed the crowd of people who were also crossing the same road. The park wasn’t far away, but Nino had this feeling that Sho would be there first since his company was quite near the meeting place. He quicken his pace, telling himself that he didn’t want to keep Sho waiting, but deep down inside, Nino knew he wanted to see the older man.
Entering the park ground, Nino looked up hesitantly at the bench he and Sho were sitting on the other day - empty. Thinking he was early, Nino took his own sweet time to approach the bench. However, by the time he got there, Sho was still nowhere to be seen. Getting out his phone, Nino dialed his number.
“I’m sorry, but the customer you are trying to contact is not available, please check….” Nino hung up. Leaning against the back rest, Nino did not expect the arms that snaked around his shoulders, giving him a tight hug, and the nose that ruffled his hair, smelling his scent.
“I missed you…” whispered a voice against his ear, making Nino shiver in delight. When he felt Sho’s embrace loosen, Nino turned around, only to have Sho’s lips attack his. It started out sweet, but as both parties wanted more, the kiss became a fight for dominance. Sho’s hands went to Nino’s hair, tilting his head backwards so he could gain more access to the delicious mouth.
“Sho…” moaned Nino, his lungs on fire but he refused to stop.
After god knows how long, Sho pulled away, giving Nino a huge grin. From nowhere, Sho pulled out a single rose and handed it to Nino sheepishly, “Will you be my boyfriend?” he asked nervously, giving Nino shy glances.
It was as though everybody around them had disappeared, leaving him and Sho alone in the park with birds singing and butterflies singing. Nino was so shocked that his tongue was tied, turning away bashfully, Nino pouted, “Sho…Isn’t it a bit soon? I mean, we’ve just…”
Sho hand reached out to cup Nino’s face, gently titling it towards him so that Nino’s face was less than a centimeter away from Sho’s.
“It’s never too soon,” whispered Sho seductively, “The faster we’re together, the more time I get to spend with you,” With that, Sho took Nino’s lips in his again. This time, it was a gentle kiss, one that conveyed all of Sho’s emotions, making Nino’s heart flutter.
Once they were apart, Sho looked into Nino’s brown eyes, willing him to say ‘yes’. With those lovely eyes that were gazing at him, Nino could not help but melt and nod.
“Come on,” said Sho, pulling Nino off the park bench, “let’s go for dinner,”
The couple walked the streets of Tokyo, looking at the eateries in the area, “So what’s for dinner?” asked Nino, not really looking where he was going since he had latched himself to Sho’s arm and snuggled his head into the older man’s muscular shoulders.
“Your choice,” replied Sho like the gentleman he is, “What do you like?”
“Hamburger,”
Chuckling, Sho led Nino to a fast food restaurant. Inside, the pair found seats by the window, and while Sho went to buy the food, Nino sat there, head resting on his hands as he gazed dreamily at Sho. Nino felt as if he was the luckiest person on Earth! He was just promoted to leader, to celebrate, Gantz had given the team a longer day off, he had the world’s most perfect boyfriend, what more could he ask for?
Sho approached the table with a tray in hands. The sunlight shone through the window, and was somehow caught in Sho’s hair, making the older man glow as brightly as the moon. Nino sighed like a sappy school girl as he watched Sho walk up to him, grinning at him as though there was no tomorrow.
“Here you go,” said Sho, sitting down and handing Nino a cheese burger, fries and his drink.
“Thanks,”
While eating their meal, the pair talked about everything under the sun (which thankfully did not include killing aliens). Every time Sho laughed, Nino could only grin at how adorable Sho looked, every time Sho talked about serious issues such as politics, Nino could only swoon at how handsome Sho looked, every time Sho looked at him, Nino could only feel fluttery inside at how perfect his boyfriend was.
“Can I bring you somewhere?” asked Sho once they were done with their meal.
Nino nodded excitedly.
Fingers entwined in Sho’s, Nino followed the older man as he brought him to Tokyo Tower. Getting the tickets, the couple took the lifts up to the viewing area.
“Wow,” gasped Nino, hands pressed against the glass as he gaped at the beautiful city which was laid out in front of him. The sun was setting behind the mountains in the background, giving the landscape he was seeing a nice warm, orangey glow.
“Beautiful isn’t it?” asked Sho, appearing beside Nino with two glasses of champagne in his hand. Handing one to Nino, the couple clinked their glasses before sipping from their respective glasses. Leaning his head against Sho’s shoulders, Nino sighed contentedly.
“Nino,” began Sho after a long lapse of silence.
“Hm?”
“I was thinking…”
“About?”
“Quitting this whole killing alien business. I could always sell my company and we could move to the country side, find a nice and comfy house and settle down,”
Nino pictured Sho’s proposal in his head. He saw himself with Sho in a small cottage that normally existed in fairy tales. They were baking bread and little children running around them gleefully. Nino shuddered, that was nowhere near his idea of living ‘happily ever after’.
“It’s a bit soon for that,” answered Nino hesitantly, “besides, I can’t leave,” He thought about his bond with Gantz. If he failed to return before midnight, he would disintegrate into a pile of dust, let only be able to run away with Sho no matter how tempting the idea was.
Silence continued. Leaning against Sho, Nino was about to fall asleep when a security guard addressed them.
“I’m sorry, but we’re closing,” he said, gesturing for them to leave.
The pair got up, slightly embarrassed as they made their way to the lifts. A glance at his watch told Nino he had about an hour to return to the Gantz headquarters. And after his previous experience, Nino thought that was a reasonable amount of time.
“I really want this night to go on forever,” said Nino once there was at the base of Tokyo tower, “but I really need to get back,”
“I understand,” replied Sho gently.
“And here,” continued Nino, returning Sho the rose he had given him earlier, “As much as I want to keep it, the others would be suspicious,”
Sho nodded in understanding.
"I thought you were afriad of heights," laughed Nino jokingly, "I didn't expect you to bring to Tokyo Tower,"
Sho rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, "Well..."
They were about to part ways when Sho grabbed Nino and hugged him for all he was worth, “I’ll see you again sometime, right?”
Nino nodded against Sho’s shoulder.

“Sakurai-san, are you okay?” asked a worried staff the moment the elevator doors were pushed open wide enough to allow Sho to exit.
“I’m fine, thanks,” mumbled Sho as he dashed out of the confined space in which he had been trapped for hours. Nodding his thanks to the firemen who had worked hard trying to rescue him, Sho dashed out of the front doors, praying like mad that Nino would still be there.
With a full bladder, it was hard for Sho to not want to head for a toilet first, but his strong desire to see Nino and explain why he was late overpowered the urge to relieve himself. Reaching the park grounds, Sho scanned the place, hoping to see a glimpse of Nino around, but to his disappointment, there was no sign of Nino.
“He probably left thinking I stood him up,” wailed Sho to himself. Resisting the urge to punch himself in the face, Sho got out his phone to call Nino and beg for his forgiveness when he noticed that Nino had sent him a message.
Thinking that the smaller man never wanted to see him again, Sho pressed a shaking finger on the button, clicking on the ‘inbox’.
