Chapter 1 Chapter 2

Chapter 3:

“Sho…”

“Sho…”

“Sho-kun!”

Sho awoke with a start, blinking stupidly at his surroundings as he tried to remember where he was - his garage.

“And they said I was the one who’s spaced out,” sighed Ohno, handing Sho a set of blue prints.

“What’s this?” asked Sho stupidly.

“Yatter-king’s edited blueprints,” sighed Ohno, walking away once he handed the roll of paper over to his partner, “I need to go fishing,”

The blonde man flopped himself onto his seat, taking out his fishing rod which doubled as a sword and started polishing it. His weapon was covered in dried alien blood, not something that you would like to have on your trusty sword, courteously of the many aliens he had killed the night before. Taking out his tool kit, Ohno got out his cloth and polishing liquid and started cleaning his friend. It usually took him an hour to shine-up his fishing rod, and in that time, Sho should have finish with Yatter-king’s changes.

Holding up his shiny fishing rod to the light, Ohno let out a sigh of content as he wiped the sweat of his forehead. He continued examining his equipment, knowing from experience that Sho would soon call him for a test drive. However, no matter how long he stared at the metal pole in his hands, Sho’s call never came. Curious, Ohno approached his friend’s work area, Yatter-king blocking Sho from his view, but Ohno was certain his hardworking partner was busy slaving away at the mechanics.

Never would Ohno expect to find Sho sitting on his chair, day-dreaming away.

“Sho-kun!” gasped Ohno in shock, “It’s been over an hour and you haven’t started?!”

Sho jolted up from his chair the second time that day and blinked at Ohno idiotically, “Huh?”

Ohno sighed at his friend for the umpteenth time that day. Walking up to Sho, Ohno hauled that dazed man out of his chair and ignoring Sho’s protest, pushed him out of the workshop, “Go for a walk or go get something to eat, either ways you’re definitely not in the mood to work,”

Seeing that he was unable to protest, Sho grabbed his wallet and headed out into the sunny summer day. Planning to get a nice cool glass of Iced lemon tea, Sho bid Ohno goodbye, silently thanking his friend for being so understanding.

Meanwhile, back at the garage, Ohno smiled cheekily to himself, “Time to go fishing,”

The atmosphere in the Gantz room felt so heavy. The air was so thick, Nino felt as if the air was so heavy that it could flatten him against the floor. They’ve lost quite a few members during the last mission, and the remaining team members have yet to get over it. According to Jun, the last time the door opened was a month ago, and the older members were bored out of their minds, being kept in the room for such a long time.

The only member who wasn’t affected by the dull mood of the room was the ever energetic Aiba, who was now firing questions at a lethargic Jun. At least it that was better than having him run around the room in his Gantz suit screaming ‘this is so cool’.

“So, Jun,” asked Aiba inquisitively, “How long have you been here,”

“About 3 months, the last mission was my 4th mission. I consider myself quite lucky, being able to survive four missions, most people don’t make it pass the 3rd,”

Aiba nodded intelligently, “So what is Gantz?”

“Nobody knows,” sighed Jun, getting extremely tried of Aiba’s questions.

“Oh~” gasped Aiba dramatically, “So, do you know who those two people in white are?”

That question of Aiba managed to wake Jun up from his sleepy state, “Those people!” spat Jun, clearly having a grudge against those two, “they call themselves the Yatterman, but they are just wannabes! They claim that they are defending the Earth against aliens, but all they want is the Skull stone for themselves!”

That got Nino interested in the conversation…not because it had anything to do with Yatter-red or anything, “If they are killing the aliens as well, why don’t Gantz team up with them, and then fight the skull stone later?”

Nino knew he shouldn’t have asked that question. “You can’t trust those people!” yelled Jun, livid, “Gantz is a far superior team compared to the Yatterman! We don’t need help from those cheating bastards!”

Nino nodded sheepishly, hoping that Jun’s face would turn from purple back to its original colour, while Aiba shrank into the wall, frightened by Jun’s anger. Thankfully, none of them had to deal with the depressing atmosphere or Jun’s fury, for the door that was shut for a month burst open, revealing the outside world.

With a joyous cry, the members rushed to exit the room, causing a huge jam at the doorway. Soon enough, all of the members managed to leave the room, rejoicing at their freedom. In the blink of an eye, all the members had dashed off to wherever they wanted to go, putting the thought of having to return by midnight into a corner of their minds.

“Nino,” began Aiba, “Do you mind if I go see my parents?”

Nino shook his head hastily, “Go ahead, I’ll be fine on my own,”

Nino, Aiba, and Jun, who was calm enough to wait for the stampeding Gantz members to leave first, went their separate ways, Jun reminding them to be back by midnight or they would disintegrate.

Hands in his pockets, Nino roamed the streets of Tokyo, mind made up to not return home. His mother and sister would have heard of him dying and it would only complicated things if he went back. He bit his tongue. Nino knew he should have thought of that before Aiba headed home, oh well, that idiot would be able to handle himself.

Walking down the bustling streets, Nino wondered if he should get something to eat. Heading towards a bakery, Nino stopped dead in his tracks as he kicked the ground in frustration - he didn’t have his wallet on him. Backing away from the sweet scent of baking bread, Nino headed in another direction, trying to ignore his desperate craving for melon bread.

With his eyes focused on the road, Nino didn’t noticed when he walked into the path of a little kid who was busy playing with his toy instead of watching where he was going.

“Ouch,” cried the little kid as Nino, who was obviously bigger and stronger, bumped into him. Feeling bad, Nino squatted down to help the child up. Surprisingly, the kid was more worried out his toy rather than the bruise on his arm, “It’s ok!” squealed the boy in delight after he did a check on his toy.

From the corner of his eye, Nino noted something very familiar, “Hey kid, said Nino, kneeling down so he was at the same height as the kid whom he had accidentally knocked down, “Where did you get your toy from?”

“It’s Yama Toy Store’s limited edition toy!” exclaimed the kid, holding up the toy for Nino to see, “but it’s all sold out,”

“Thanks!” said Nino gratefully, sprinting towards the giant signboard which read ‘Yama Toys’, unable to get the image of the toy version of Yatter-red’s machine out of his head.
