Potentially historic, widespread & life-threatening flooding is now underway along and either side of I35 in central Texas. Widespread six to ten inches of rain has fallen since late this morning, most falling tonight, over a very large area along & either side of I35 from roughly San Antonio to south of Waco. Tropical Storm Hermine has formed in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, and is currently forecast to move ashore near the Texas & Mexico border either very late tonight or Tuesday morning. Several complexes of thunderstorms with several embedded strong to severe cells continue moving towards I35 this afternoon. Very large hail up to the size of softballs have already been reported in some of these strongest cells. It is my opinion that the odds of large hail (quarter to golf ball sized) occurring somewhere in the greater Austin area ( Read more... )

Scattered to numerous thunderstorms, many severe and congealing into one or more complexes, are likely across much of the Hill Country and south and east Texas today.

As of this post, severe thunderstorms are already in progress across west Texas, mostly drifting east.
