I've been absolutely wrapped up in a zillion other things the past several months, and with weather being largely non-severe for much of the nation, including here in Texas, took a long-overdue rest from weather blogging.

My thoughts are that we have about a 40% chance of getting measurable precip in Austin metro by 9PM today, and then a 20% thereafter through the rest of the night. Some of the showers and storms in our area, as seen Saturday, may produce pockets of severe wind gusts and hail in addition to pockets of heavy rain and dangerous cloud-to-ground

Like the isolated severe thunderstorm that impacted a few small sections of downtown Austin the other day, some pockets within an area of developing showers and thunderstorms set to pass through much of central Texas during the remainder of the afternoon will likely contain wind gusts in excess of 50MPH and perhaps some hail, in addition to ( Read more... )

Last night my "Interest #1" soon after became an official area of interest, soon after that became a tropical cyclone, and at 4AM CDT this morning became designated as TD-4, the fourth officiated tropical cyclone in the Atlantic basin of the 2009 season.

Long time, no post. I have been working up to 60+/hrs a week on other projects for the past few months, with unfortunately little time spent doing what of course I enjoy so much. On the plus side, it has been a relatively quiet severe season this last spring/summer, and a relatively quiet hurricane season, thus far. But all that is now changing.
