Swinging from one extreme to another...

Dec 07, 2008 19:23

We have spent the very peaceful, quiet weekend quilting; Bear quilted a quilt top belonging to a colleague while I have been diligently cutting out the fabric/sewing 6" 4-squares for Emmie's Virginia Tech quilt. Good thing she doesn't read my journal ( Read more... )

You'd think the law of averages would kick in somewhere, right?

You'd think. It is a nightmare. This last year has been an utter nightmare.

It seems like 2008 has been a less-than-stellar year for most people I know. It was relatively uneventful for me, save changing jobs which was a good thing.

Hopefully 2009 with be much better! *clink*

*clink* Yes! This was like the year from hell for them, as Sasha was hospitalized for BPD, and Adriel had her appendix and gall bladder out, and they fell in this ginormous hole -- pit-- financially.

I will be praying for Adie.

What a rough situation to be in, but for her safety, she should really get away from him as soon as possible if this is really psychosis. I have worked with schizophrenics and bi-polar folks; when they begin to have violent episodes, one simply must get out of the way. There is no way to help them control it except hospitalization and medication.

I agree, and so does she. She said that she and Sasha have been treading very carefully and are so afraid. She knows well about schizophrenia because her brother (my son) was diagnosed with it at age 19 and it was a hellish period in our lives. I'm really frightened for her.

i'm so glad that you found your friend! my oldest and dearest friend and i lost each other , and recently she called me. it took her 8 years to find me! i am sooo happy for both of us!
gosh, i don't know what to say about adie and sasha. i know what it is to keep falling, and that was with rich having a marketable degree. but things happened, the economy turned sour, and we'd be in the same old shoes again. that's why he became a consulting engineer/contractor. it's a rough life in a way, but having no utilities is rougher. i can't imagine trying to face this economy without a higher education and marketable skills. i'm afraid for them in every way! i will pray for God's covering over them! is there any way that sasha could somehow take a short course in school to get more earning power, such as an LPN or something?
praying!
i'm sorry to hear that aaron is sick. is his condition medically managed? pastor mark's son has that, and he doesn't follow through with his meds. it's rough.

See my note to Kattrax below about my best friend in HS. Sasha is doing the best she can as she only has a High School diploma and I think a semester or two of college. Things are falling down all around them... single digits temperature wise last night and we feared that they were in the trailer with no water and no electricity. They talked about trying to buy a kerosene heater. It is just all such a nightmare.

Yes, Aaron's condition is medically managed. He is on SSI but also works about 30 hours a week at a Kroger. He does really well.

Things just have to swing the better way for those two gals. I am glad to hear that this job pays more.

What a treat to connect with an old friend!

Yes, now if she can get there okay. It takes gas. Their trailer has no water or electricity and god only knows how much it will cost to have them turned back on. It was in the single digits here last night-- I hope they were warm, wherever they were.
