'The Vampire Diaries' Wrap-up Thoughts... 5A/8 -- Seasons 01-04 Favorite Scenes and Moments

Continuing with my final Vampire Diaries series-and the good stuff-here are my favorite scenes or moments. (You may notice it now says /8 instead of /10. That's because I realized that I can get this done in eight and I'm glad because I like the symmetry of eight parts to go with eight seasons.) Some of these may surprise you and some scenes/

I don't have a list, but can't say I would have picked most of these (there would be a lot less Stefen probably!), but they are still great moments. And 4.03! I love that scene, even if Meredith doesn't seem to be doing anything useful with that knife.

Ah 4.06 forever overshadowed by the question of who did her hair and makeup and changed her clothes.

Oh, yeah, I'm sure most lists are different for people. I do love that you agree on the 4.03 scene though! Aww.....

As for 4.06, nope, I answered that question with a fic! Taking Care (OK, not the make-up part.) And, I don't know, the scene is so awesome and beautiful from a DE point of view that I think the 'hmm, how did she get all nice and dry in bed?' wondering came after the fact enough for most that the scene wasn't overshadowed.

You know how the logistics of these things always bug me.

Huh, how did I never read that fic? (it will have to wait until tomorrow though, I am supposed to be in bed - it's 12.20 here).

I know they do, lol, but I think most people just loved the scene itself. However, obviously, it did stick in my mind enough that I wrote that fic... which I hope helps ease your frustration to enjoy the scene in all of its beauty more. (The make-up, I just fanwank away because Elena-and all of the other ladies-always have perfect make-up pretty much no matter what.)

No real disagreement, aside from my general disdain for Stefan when he's not with Caroline or when he's being crappy to Damon. *shrug* I wonder what it would've been like if he'd actually had sex with Katherine in the tomb in 2x11. At least then, things would've been shaken up.

It would have been way OOC for Stefan at the time, so while I thought it would have been cool then because I just wanted S/E to end, I'm glad now it didn't because, yeah, it would have been totally out of character and TVD is/was better than that.

"Grabbing for the spell book, desperately wanting to fix it, crying out such ("I can fix this, I can fix this")" - AH I just realized something. The reversed similarity between these repeated phrases and “I can do this. I can do this!” in the finale.

Oh, that's such an awesome realization and I think you're totally right. I absolutely believe that was intentional.

"However, here he was seeing that Damon had genuine love for his brother, and that he obviously cared about Elena." - That was a very subtle and beautiful game-changer.

It truly was. That was the totally when Alaric Saltzman started to soften towards Damon, uh huh.

"All of that wasn't present in their dialogue, but through the looks that passed between them, their expressions and body language." - Yes, it was masterfully done.

"The passion we got from him as he laid out the reality of the situation was just amazing." - It’s definitely one of those scenes that can be watched on repeat and never get old or boring.

"It was the first time when Stefan came across as the guy he sold himself as: The perfect, wholesome, fantastic, place-a-halo-on-his perfectly-coiffed head and call it a day, guy.” - And that’s pretty meaningful since one of the signs of finding the right person is not simply that you can be yourself with them, but that when you’re with them you can be the best version of yourself, you can be the person that you want to be.

Very, very true and we saw the signs of that right away with not only Damon and Elena, but with Stefan and Caroline. *sigh*

“Damon just kept breaking my heart with nearly every line uttered and then he revealed that his big secret was that he missed being a human, and I was wrecked all over again.” - And what makes it even more awesome in retrospect is that in the end Damon got his wish ♥And that is why I kept going back to this scene over and over again whenever I brought up the fact that I wanted Damon to be human and that if the series didn't end with Damon as human that I wouldn't be happy, and that it wouldn

“Then came my favorite moment of the whole scene, Damon turned to walk away, and Stefan looked after him, utter devastation written on every line of his body, but he was standing as still as a statue. Except for his fingers.” - I love this scene too. Heartwrenching.

“Klaus told Stefan the only thing stronger than his need for blood was his love for Elena, but clearly… not so much.” - I have to say that Klaus’ misguided shipper’s comments were sometimes making it difficult for me to take him seriously lol

I just go with what someone said (it might have even been you), that Klaus "shipping" Stefan and Elena was just proof that they weren't meant to be because while on TVD, Klaus was TOTALLY the big bad, LOL!

Other than missing out on Damon and Elena's summer of love, my least favorite real-time hiatus jump would be the one between seasons 02 and 03, and after the season 03 mid-season finale. That was the height of the Damon/Elena/Jeremy/Alaric family unit. Alas, like with missing out the bulk of the happy Damon and Elena relationship onscreen, we also didn't get that family quartet onscreen. *sigh*
