Sucks about the headphone. I hope the package arrives soon! (My painkillers arrived a few days after my "I don't need these any more and probably won't for a couple of weeks" point. They came in a box with a lot of tiny chocolates that I shared around the office.)
Real people with eating disorders talk or don't talk, it depends on their circumstances. The idea you have to be flawlessly invisible to have real problems is total crap, and dangerous crap.
Was there by the time I got back from tattooing so the problem is, I hope, solved now. There are lots of spares for when it inevitably happens again, at least.
But "hides all evidence" is like, diagnostic criteria. And I have been the world's showiest and grandstandiest person about everything pretty much always, so basic nothing really counts? Like self-harm doesn't real if people can see you've done it. I mean, it's there, but it Doesn't Count, apparently.
Did it? My internet went out for a few days while I was out of free phone data. (It resets on the 25th.)
I literally looked up the DSM-5 criteria, and there's nothing there about hiding the evidence. It may be a common feature, but it's not a necessary one for a diagnosis. The idea that telling people about your dangerous psychological problems and unhealthy coping mechanisms means nothing is really wrong sounds more like toxic bullshit from the evil boarding school.
I mean it probably is EDNOS but I also think it's not currently doing me any harm and as the only damn things I can control at the moment are calorie intake and the orange numbers on the machines at the gym...
