After a period of intense anger there comes a period of complete absence of any kind of fucks to give, which is emotionally pleasant but today has meant a lot of saying mean things to people and then having to immediately delete them for the sake of maintaining a quiet life. Boss informs me that we might be staying on a bit longer due to $ ( Read more... )

If said vending machines existed I would buy an outfit just to like, see wtf I would get and how it would work and stuff.

Sort of boo more work but also sort of not?

There used to be a vending machine at Victoria station which sold electronics, including flash drives, headphones, disposable phones, cameras, etc. I am STRONGLY IN FAVOUR of vending machine culture if only because I love anything that cuts down on interacting with bored shop staff :P

Yeah, that's kind of how I feel. It won't last for an enormous length of time, that's the main thing.

I was in the bathroom of a gay bar in Southampton that had a vibrator vending machine. I was well impressed. :D

That is a beautiful, beautiful innovation. Was it expensive? DID THEY COME WITH BATTERIES?

It was £5 and they came with batteries! Also they held punk gigs upstairs, which was originally why I was there - we actually went upstairs, bought a few badges and then drank two for one cocktails downstairs. Sadly it no longer exists and has ladies on poles instead :(

Awesome gauntlets! Very pretty!

You have really good world-building ideas. I'm impressed!

I would so go for the spare outfit thing. I have been on a lot of long flights, and a clean t-shirt from a vending machine would make everything nicer.

Most of the world-building stuff came up while I was explaining it to Jess and answering her questions, which was a timely reminder that I actually work better if people ask me things than if I try to work out all the kinks in something on my own.

Yeah, talking stuff out with people is a huge help. I've gone from a vague idea to a complete plot just because someone was asking me about different aspects.

That's pretty much how I worked out ASAH. Not having people to discuss these things with informally is surprisingly difficult for me. :(

that vacuum-packed-clothes vending machine is a neat idea, especially if the travel packs of clothes come with tiny travel packs of toiletries. you could put one by the baggage claim in big airports, for people who lose their luggage or whose luggage just didn't change planes with them and will be arriving tomorrow, so tourists or other short-term travelers can grab a change of clothes without having to waste time shopping. i wonder if you could vacuum pack in a reusable bag, so you'd even have something to carry your new stuff around in. (or your worn smelly clothes, after you changed into the new outfit ( ... )

I had to spend an entire day in Bangkok panic-buying things that fit me, and I am not sized for Thai clothing stores. Being able to get something clean from the vending machine would have hugely improved my day.

Clearly this is an idea I need to take onto Dragon's Den.
