After a period of intense anger there comes a period of complete absence of any kind of fucks to give, which is emotionally pleasant but today has meant a lot of saying mean things to people and then having to immediately delete them for the sake of maintaining a quiet life. Boss informs me that we might be staying on a bit longer due to $ ( Read more... )

that vacuum-packed-clothes vending machine is a neat idea, especially if the travel packs of clothes come with tiny travel packs of toiletries. you could put one by the baggage claim in big airports, for people who lose their luggage or whose luggage just didn't change planes with them and will be arriving tomorrow, so tourists or other short-term travelers can grab a change of clothes without having to waste time shopping. i wonder if you could vacuum pack in a reusable bag, so you'd even have something to carry your new stuff around in. (or your worn smelly clothes, after you changed into the new outfit.)

i spend a lot of random bus-riding time refitting the mbta buses into mobile homes. bus as tiny house. i sometimes do it on the t too, altho then i end up thinking of the train as a kind of apartment complex, with each car being a separate living unit. and then i mentally plop them down on a plot of land somewhere and add tiny lawns and gardens and maybe little front porches.

oh, now *i* want peanutbutter cookies. it's too late to bake.

I had to spend an entire day in Bangkok panic-buying things that fit me, and I am not sized for Thai clothing stores. Being able to get something clean from the vending machine would have hugely improved my day.

Clearly this is an idea I need to take onto Dragon's Den.

You could easily throw in a little canvas tote into the mix! I should remember that. (Who am I kidding, these ideas for compact/convenient living never go anywhere with me apart from relentless buying of Bento boxes and cubed T-shirts).

TINY HOUSE BLOGS ARE MY GUILTY CRACK BTW. And literally just yesterday I was retrofitting a train into a mobile nightclub with a sleeping car...

i love tiny houses. i don't think i could ever live in one - i think they really are too tiny for me - i have a lot of stuff! and i like having space for guests - but i love tiny things, and the ways people fit all the essentials and some fun stuff into small spaces is endlessly fascinating. you should not feel guilty for enjoying the blogs! there is no guilt in tiny house crack!

I don't think I could either, I need the space for making stuff and I have far too many books (although I did spend a while designing a house which didn't take up much space horizontally and simply had a lot of floors, most of them heading downwards into the ground), but I am completely obsessed with their space-saving and efficiency. I mean, I live in QUITE a small flat so it's kind of good to learn things from them.
