GAMES OF SKILL jigoku_mods June 14 2009, 02:37:15 UTC
Several streetways showed an array of booths decorated in red, white, black, or grey banners. Some held brightly colored toys, others held cigarettes, condoms, and coveted items of food, strangely remaining fresh, wrapped up and waiting to be won. Barkers stood at several of them, dressed in red and white, calling out their games and wares, entreating others to come and visit them, and play their games.

Shooting games, goldfish scoops, ring tossing, bottles needing to be knocked over. The Carnival had them all, free of charge and waiting.

Whak-A-Tenant - Instead of the standard moles, the stuffed heads of tenants pop out of the holes. Whack them and their respective person will feel it.

Skeeball - Get the ball in the hole and a hole will form beneath you, dropping you into another location. It might be the convenience mart or hospital, allowing you to bypass the dangers of travel. Or it could be back at your own room.

Ring Toss - The targets are a number of wanted and useful things, from cans of food to cartons of cigarettes. Get ( ... )

WHAK-A-TENANT: SAKURA, MIKA, OPEN ghostsofspring June 16 2009, 05:01:59 UTC
Sakura strode with a cautious confidence -- such a thing surely existed -- into the bright lights and colorful tents of the Carnival. The spirits around faded in and out of vision, their masks a curious collection of the macabre and the quaint.

Behind her own mask, Sakura quelled a shiver. "So far, so good" she addressed to Mika, scanning over the various gaming attractions. One in particular caught her eye.

"What do you say to trying one of these out? They look innocent enough." Words meant more in comfort than in anything close to the truth; appearances were deceiving.

Still, what harm in a game where you smashed down a padded hammer over faces popping up out of holes? She'd try it first, make sure nothing exploded, and then maybe the both of them could work off some tension.

"Sure, looks okay to me." Her ears flicked forward, then angled back again as she read the name one more time, just to be sure.

"The title looks kinda skeezy to me, though. Sounds kinda familiar..." Maybe she was just imagining it, though. Hopefully.

TUNNEL OF LOVE jigoku_mods June 14 2009, 02:26:26 UTC
The building looms, somewhat close to the graveyard. Perhaps, too close for comfort? The spotlight on it is spotty, now and then flickering over the red heart painting on the side before sputtering, giving the impression of a bleeding heart. And there's a strange smell as you head inside. Not too strong but something that tingles on the edge of your senses. You know you've smelled it before.

The ride is set up in small bullet cars meant to hold up to four, two per row, sitting side-by-side. Once at least two have slipped inside, a ghostly barker will wave them off, starting their adventure in the darkened cave ( ... )

Butterfly's explorations had taken him into the strange building. He had never seen a Carnival before and the tunnel of love drew his attention--and curiosity. Tail flickering, he rested one hand on a nearly bared hip, boots clicking lightly on the oddly glossy floor. Inside it was bright and welcoming, the bullet shaped boats beckoning. He eased closer warily, staring down at the chemical, too-blue water, one hand resting on the red railing.

That was a lot of water for a cat to brave in the face of curiosity...

Sakura had taken another's advice about exploring the grounds with a grain of salt. Once she'd moved past the games, she'd been left staring at the various contraptions that appeared to offer another version of entertainment she wasn't as familiar with. Some, such s the giant spinning wheel, seemed fantastic in both structure and application: she had to wonder if she was missing part of the point ( ... )

FERRIS WHEEL jigoku_mods June 14 2009, 02:32:32 UTC
The Ferris Wheelt looms over the other structures, carrying it's passengers high up and above the treeline. Funny, you can see the stars just fine...but the canyon walls around the grounds seem shrouded in fog the higher up, eliminating a chance of seeing any way of escape. While gentle, now and then the Ferris Wheel will stop dead while ghostly clowns tinker around with fixing it far below. They might look worried, shaking their heads and comically waving their arms frantically...only to grin and leer up at you, giving you the A-OK sign.

You should be safe, though, right?

FERRIS WHEEL (Open!) fluttersky June 15 2009, 00:15:39 UTC
Her head was constantly being turned, seeing this, hearing that. And always on the lookout for the missing exorcist. With each passing day, the expectation, the hope of finding Kanda grew less and less. The chances that he'd been returned to the Order were good, something that she constantly reminded herself. But she didn't know that for sure. And at the very least, she just missed him.

She did still have Allen to keep her company, and Daisya as well. The latter was especially unexpected, given that he was...well, dead. Good things could happen her, however accidental they might be. Maybe it was possible that the carnival was one such thing.

She'd worn her mask, but pushed it up on her head now for an unobstructed view of the ferris wheel. It looked fun, and she of all people had no fear of heights. If she got in trouble, she'd have no problems getting down. Lenalee smiled to herself and hurried over to claim one of the swinging seats.

After quite a few days of self-convicted exile, Gokudera felt strange in a crowd of people. He skirted at the edges of the carnival grounds, looking for familiar faces and wondering if there was anything to be learned from this.. twisted reflection of a carnival. He wasn't sure what he wanted in the first place, not quite ready to face the ones he had tried to kill while being possessed, but still wanting to see them, if from afar. As for information-- what sort of useful information could a god damn carnival offer him ( ... )

Old-fashioned calliope music is piped in from unseen speakers as the carousel twirls round and round. It's large, easily able to fit many people...but it never stops, making getting on and off the tricky part. Horses stare at you as you pass, and you can almost imagine their eyes rolling to watch you as best they can.

Muraki gently led Aaron away from the midway and it's rather... painful pleasures across the grassy field. He could see the ride moving gracefully, almost gliding over the ground like a top. Despite the fact it never seemed to stop, the ride looked relatively harmless, charming, really. At least compared to the other rides.

Looking over at his companion, he tilted his head. "Care to try to catch a ride?"

It went without saying that the sight of the carnival before him was anything but pleasing to the human eye. At once, Gilbert's stomach churned as he looked on the carnival grounds with a feeling mixed of horror and morbid fascination. Gold eyes drifted from the Ferris wheel in the distance to the games he ended up passing. Anything to get out of that damn apartment for a few hours, away from those ghosts, those twisted games ( ... )

FREAK SHOW jigoku_mods June 14 2009, 03:02:25 UTC
The tent looms, tattered and black, the opening fluttering juuust tantalizingly askew, as if begging entrance. It smells old there, forgotten. Within will show a number of roped-off stalls housing...well. Freaks. The usual fare can be seen here, of course. Two headed animals, dead and alive, dead, deformed fetus inside jars labeled things like "Child of the devil." Others look ridiculously sewn-together and surgically altered. But some are vaguely human...and ominous. You can't hurt them, but you get the sensation that, if they want...they can hurt you ( ... )

Choushiro makes his way quietly through the tent, wearing what appears to be an expressionless mask, bleached white like a doctor's lab coat. Often times he stops to look into the stalls, standing just out of reach of those trapped inside. He knows, he's seen the horrors of the experiments within the Haibara Hospital. Cruel experiments conducted for the sake of 'medicine' by a serial killer and his father ( ... )
