It's pouring buckets outside. An absolute deluge.
I ran out into it and was soaked to the skin in under a minute. No thundering, no chill, just the beat of the rain - it drowned out my voice.
I feel so joyful right now for being alive and human. -

Mercy and I took the kids to their favorite pizza place in Cambridge.
In the booth across from us a little boy (maybe six or seven) sat with his dad and grandfather. They looked like older versions of each other, and the dad was all doting. And then they started talking and the heartwarming multi-generational celebration got even more adorable.

In one week I shall be done with finals, which means only one thing to me right now: time to READ.
Since last break I've been compiling a list of books to read or reread. Hopefully I'll make it through some of them before Academia recommences!
I'll keep revisiting this list as summer wears on and the pages keep turning. :)

Cedar Waxwings
This morning a flock of cedar waxwings visited me outside my bedroom window. My friend, the clamorous cherry tree, stretched out its cracked and crooked arm to bring our little guests closer. Maintaining their grace though a fury of fluttering feathers, the pretty birds alighted onto the tree's giving boughs and nourished themselves on its clusters ( Read more... ) -

I saw this link on the front page of LJ just now. I saw this case in the NYTimes a while ago and think it's all a dreadful pity. I wish they would crack down on more than just the worker, because it's not like these businesses are generally humane, and I genuinely feel sorry for slaughterhouse workers - imagine being in the business of death? I wish you could see me right now. I'm wearing a black v-neck sweater with 3/4 sleeves over a black-and-white checked pencil skirt. I've paired the outfit with white-trimmed patent pumps and dangling pearl earrings. I haven't felt so adorably put-together since I had my First Communion at eight years old ( Read more... )
