Wanna hear a cute story?

Mercy and I took the kids to their favorite pizza place in Cambridge.

In the booth across from us a little boy (maybe six or seven) sat with his dad and grandfather. They looked like older versions of each other, and the dad was all doting. And then they started talking and the heartwarming multi-generational celebration got even more adorable.

Dad: Do you know how big a deal it is to place first? Out of all those kids in all those schools?
Kid: How big?
Dad: It's a really big deal. What inspired you to write a poem about the night sky?

Whereupon, my brain short-circuits because of the overwhelming cuteness and I can't catch the kid's response. But I'm sure it was sweet and intelligent. He had  earlier been throwing around big words like irritate.

That's what I love about Cambridge. You walk into a clothes store but still feel bound to others by a love a books, et cetera. And there are daddies who reward poetry with pizza.
