AU Background: Hispania and her sibling Lusitania (modern day Portugal), children of Iberia, were found by Ancient Rome as the latter's empire expanded westwards. Placed under the older nation's care, the two child nations were taught by Ancient Rome basic skills such as reading and writing, as well as how to handle a weapon, since Ancient Rome believed in equal education for all her children until they were of age. Hispania learned a lot from her surrogate mother, and her culture, language and beliefs were almost unshakable, even after the Germanic tribes took over. Despite its name, the Age of Enlightenment and the following years were not kind to Spain. Abilities: Nations' health are usually connected to the overall health/status of their people, and because there are innumerous people living at any given moment, they're usually immortal creatures. Other than that, he doesn't really have any extraordinary abilities. The things he can do that are above the norm are speak in a variety of languages (Italian, English, Sicilian, some Spanish, etc) and pickpocket like a pro.
He can use typical weapons like guns or knives, but he has a tendency to be clumsy with them in a stressful situation. In a normal situation, he won't really resort to weapons when his own hands (or head) make much more efficient substitutes.
Lastly, a phenomenon occurs when the strange curl protruding from his head is tugged, causing him to utter a sound like ‘chigi’ and become either extremely angry or extremely, uh, aroused. It's an unfortunately bizarre erogenous zone.

Personality: On a surface level, Rena is gentle and kind, simple and carefree, only occasionally letting her friends see bits and pieces of what her friends often refer to as a 'mature' outlook on life. She's able to remain cheery even in the worst of situations, putting the task of uplifting the mood of those around her well above her own needs. But in spite of her somewhat peculiar habits and shy nature Rena is quite possibly the most mature member of the group. She's always there to act as a mediator between an arguing couple, essentially forcing them to both take a step back from the argument before helping them to resolve their differences, and she's not afraid to interject when she feels that someone's being treated unfairly, especially if it's a friend of hers. She's perceptive enough to gather when someone's upset, tactful enough to draw out problems through what might at first appear to be smalltalk, and patient and understanding enough to keep from passing judgment when someone confides in her about their problems, instead using her own personal experience and worldly knowledge to give them advice regarding the situation or simply tell them what they need to hear

The difference came in how she perceived it and how she personally related to the major players in her time as a nation. Like the male Canada, she was a loner nation for much of her early life. Her only interactions were with the nations who controlled her and they were often in and out of her life in brief flashes. She barely remembers her time with the Dutch and her self-awareness began with France. The woman was her mentor for a long time, the kind but stern mistress of her life. Of course, peace with the rest of the world was one thing and peace within her own self was another. For like across the ocean, British and French clashed within her. Her people had many arguments and battles over the ideas America had brought, a democratic government that was "responsible" to the colonists and not the British monarchy or legislature. The single worst event Canada can recall was watching Quebec try to leave her. The urge to grab her province and shake her, tell her that this a family that will not be broken, was hard to ignore and even now, she watches Quebec ponder independence.
Since the inventions of mobile phones and the growth of the internet, Canada has made far more friends, both humans and nations, and likes to keep in touch with them more often.
Personality: Canada doesn't tend to make a big first impression. Quiet around strangers, kind, thoughtful, but ultimately forgettable. She has 'that quiet girl' written all over her and she does not mind giving others that idea. Canada would rather be vaguely remembered in a good way than vividly recalled in a bad one. When you meet again though, she will remember you. Centuries of being overlooked made her sensitive to such things and she will recall the names, faces, and often birthday and holidays of nearly all her acquaintances
