Rena Ryuugu ♪ Reserved ♪ Part 3 twilightsparkle May 28 2011, 18:16:17 UTC
Personality: On a surface level, Rena is gentle and kind, simple and carefree, only occasionally letting her friends see bits and pieces of what her friends often refer to as a 'mature' outlook on life. She always wears a smile on her face, believing (or at least saying) that each and every day will be as happy as the last one. She's able to remain cheery even in the worst of situations, putting the task of uplifting the mood of those around her well above her own needs. She loves all of her friends equally and treats everyone with the same amount of kindness, offering a hand to anyone who seems as though they might need it; consequently she's able to act as a sisterly figure to many, to the point that after the end of Matsuribayashi her classmates began to refer to her the "mother" of the class.

Even when it comes to club activities Rena tends to be the gentlest of the club members; the group's club motto is "do whatever it takes to win," and she's been able to learn various strategies to do so--she knows how to plan ahead, twist the rules of a game to suit her needs, and even take advantage of the other parties arrogance if the situation allows for it in order to win, but unlike the rest of the club members it seems that she still tries to have morals in doing so. As a result it's easy for her clubmates to beat her until the moment when she snaps and becomes serious.

Rena has a deep love of all things cute that borders on being an obsession. As soon as she sees a person or object that she finds to be cute she'll "hauu-*" and announce that she's going to take it home or that she wants to take it home as she enters what her friends often refer to as her "adorable mode." Once she's entered her adorable mode she becomes an unstoppable force, using whatever means necessary to remove anything (or anyone, for that matter) who she feels might stand in the way of monopolizing the person or thing that she's decided to take home--often time this tendency shows itself in the form of her punching out someone's lights out.

When it comes to cute things her sense of taste can be a bit...peculiar. Her philosophy is that anything can be cute so long as she believes it to be cute. She finds everything from beautiful porcelain dolls to Kenta-kun (better known as Colonel Sanders or "the KFC guy") to be absolutely adorable. Both her backyard and house are full of strange items, some of which she's bought, but most of which she's found through what she refers to as "treasure hunting." She frequently goes treasure hunting at Hinamizawa's former dam site, which has since turned into an illegal trash dump, in order to find new piles, and more cute things to take with her.

The words "Hauu~ I'm taking it home," hold a lot of power for Rena, who considers them to be a sort of magical phrase that can be used to cheer herself up when she's depressed. She'll occasionally use it in strange and even downright inappropriate situations as a result. It's not only a phrase that she uses to have fun with her friends and state her objective, but also a means of forgetting about her anxiety and depression for a time. Sometimes she'll even use her famed adorable mode as a means of masking her true intentions, such as claiming that she wants to see someone again because she thought they (or their beard in the case of Kasai) was adorable when her reasons are really something far more serious.

Rena is also a closet pervert who often thinks too deeply and getting embarrassed about innocent comments, sometimes even getting nosebleeds due to her wild imagination and drooling over girls in fetish-like outfits such as cute girls wearing Angel Mort's uniforms or maid costumes; however, she's incredibly shy by nature, flustering easily when teased and growing embarrassed when she overhears her friends conversing about 'perverted' subjects like "playing doctor," to the point where she'll either panic and try to derail the conversation or to knock the offending person's lights out before questioning just what it is that they're talking about.
