People for whom angevin2 has a total soft spot:

1. Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, because his gentleman-usher George Cavendish wrote a weirdly endearing if overly copious in intestinal-related detail biography of him, and because he makes such a fantastic exit in Shakespeare/Fletcher's Henry VIII.2. Clive Wood, because he was fucking amazing as York in the RSC ( Read more... )

Over here in Sydney, some of the cinemas have seasons of world performances of opera, ballet and theatre, including the Globe shows. They show them on HD screens. A friend and I are planning to see the Globe version of Love's Labour's Lost (from the Globe season last year). Hopefully, we might see Henry VIII. I've only seen that on the BBC Shakespeare version.

So they are filming at least some of the plays.

Romeo & Juliet came out on Region 2 on Thurs last week (April 1, I know!).

LLL has its cinema release on Monday 12 April & As You on 14 June - not sure when DVD releases are.

Hoping hard that this year also is recorded!

As You Like It's DVD release is, I believe, the beginning of May. Love's Labour's Lost follows suit at the beginning of August.

AND I MAY OR MAY NOT STILL BE BITTER THAT THEY DIDN'T RECORD TROILUS AND CRESSIDA. *ahem*

Re Wolsey: I am currently listening to the audio book of _Wolf Hall_ (because it was at the library and it means I can get reading time in while I walk or do mindless stuff). Wolsey features prominently (if not altogether positively) in the first few chapters.
