Ang, I loved this. I love the way you managed to seamlessly incorporate the Friends universe with a zombie apocalypse, using lots of jokes like WE WERE ON A BREAK; in particular, the dialogue felt like the show's exact brand of humor. The zombies recharging by singing pop songs in unison was a hilariously crackalicious touch. Basically, this was amazing and you are amazing.

NO U.

Really, thank you so, so much for taking the time to read through this monster and comment on it. I started out writing this mostly for myself, but hearing that the combination of genres and dialogue worked for you, makes the product of everything I put into this fic all the more worth it. I am glad - no, ecstatic! - that you enjoyed this <3

Way too exhausted (60,000 words is a lot to read okay? :( in the day time when one is meant to be sleeping due to graveyard shifts) to leave a proper comment to do this fic justice. But it'd have to be a comment in at least three parts to do it justice anyway and I am not nearly that proactive ( ... )

OMG, amazing commment!

I must confess that, during the show's run, I was a huge R/R shipper. After I went back and re-watched the series, I became increasingly disillusioned with the ship, thinking the exact same thing you did about them being much better off as friends, and I simultaneously found J/R - which I'd thought was all right, but not as well done - more and more appealing. It gradually became my OTP of the series and will probably remain one of my all-time faves, so writing this was very cathartic in that I got to reconcile R/R in the way I now feel it should have been in canon, and building off of what was, in retrospect, fantastic potential WRT J/R. I'm so glad that you enjoyed both of those aspects in this fic! (Sorry for drawing out Rachel/Joey so much, btw; I let my natural tendency to get tl;dr go all out in this fic, but I wanted to make their reunion, as well as the group's, worth the wait.)

The idea posed in Cell simultaneously creeped me out and fascinated me ever since I picked up the book, so I'd always ( ... )

I actually wasn't allowed to watch Friends when I was growing up, so I hadn't started seeing episodes until like, idk, a few years ago when random re-runs were on and at the point that Joey and Rachel started dating, I'd known the characters enough to completely fall for them. The thing about Ross is that he's so beautiful and amazing, and perfect, but one thing you pointed out amazingly well in this fic - he's boring. Not for most people, mind you, but Rachel just knew him too well? Or she was just so smart that she already knew everything he was going to do before HE did ( ... )

You weren't allowed to watch the show? Aw. At least you got to catch up on it later! IDK how much of it you've seen, so I recommend at least watching Seasons 4, 5, and 8 in order. To me, those have the highest points in the series, both in dealing with characterization and comedy.

one thing you pointed out amazingly well in this fic - he's boring.

It's interesting that you got that from the fic because, while I think Ross is the most convoluted Friend and therefore most interesting for me to analyze, I agree that he was boring to Rachel. They had chemistry and desire, especially in the beginning, but one of the things that made their relationship increasingly harder for me to accept was that they had so little in common: their interests, personality types, and how they interacted whenever they were in a relationship ( ... )
