Today is the second anniversary of Hana's arrival, and it hardly feels like two entire years have gone by! I'm so lucky in my kitties and how well they get along together

Haha, well, there was a girl in my class with lovely straight, long hair in a striking (and completely natural!) shade of red... :-)
Maia's age is just a guess, to be honest. But whatever her true age, she's been healthy as a horse so far!
Elevated TSH (=thyroid stimulating hormone) means insufficient levels of thyroid hormone are present--hence the need to stimulate it. :-) Some fluctuation in TSH levels is completely normal as the body responds to various stresses/stimuli (and it can even vary by time of day), but there's usually a fairly consistent point that each person's levels hover around.
Yippee for good newses, especially in the kitteh health arena! :D
I'm with Shirebound. It is so hard to imagine anyone ever beating you out for best hair! If I were a coveting person, I would covet how amazing and thick yours is. It's so beautiful.
And I'm glad your health visit went great too. :) It's always nice when there's less battle than one expects trying to get something accomplished. Especially on the thyroid front. Ped hem/onc would NOT start levothyroxine despite consistently high TSH (we're talking closer to the 4-5 range, seriously); started with new guy when I moved, who was immediately like, "Why are you not on that already? Let's fix this!) and started me on it first time I saw him. We've tweaked my dose as needed since, and now my primary care dr manages it, but - yeah.
Yes, I really expected to have to push for it... for whatever reason, a lot of doctors will dismiss whatever you say as long as the labwork is technically in the normal range (and 5 is still technically normal according to many labs, though 4.12 is the current recommended upper limit). I've heard lots of stories along those lines in the thyroid community. :-p At least my numbers had the courtesy to be WAY out of whack when I was first diagnosed, so there was no doubt what the problem was, haha. (I believe my TSH then was over 90, but that was a long time ago and I don't have a copy of those records to be sure. ;-) )
Happy Hanaversary to you and your lovely girl! (-: I'm glad both your pretty girls are doing well.
I'm sorry you're having thyroid trouble. I send you saki sympathy, since I know with her how thyroid values can bounce around just when you think you're all balanced and clear. *hugs*

How is that possible?? :)
Wonderful news about the kitties. I wish I knew how old Pippin is, but so far she's doing very well.
Is an elevated TSH indicative of lower thyroid levels or higher?
