Post hoopla, the morning here is really quite gorgeous--foggy, cool, wet and getting greener as the drizzle does its work. We've needed rain for so long that I don't even mind it washing out the holiday weekend, and while I'm not much for wet when it's also cold outside, there's nothing offensive to me about warm rain. I spent the better part of the day in the back yard yesterday, doing massive clean-up. So last week, my Mother suggested we go out to lunch one day this weekend, in lieu of going out to eat on New Year's day, because I had already thawed a duck...

We started off the day yesterday getting our summer haircuts--and I was grateful for that, because being shorn boy-short again (I think that at this point my hair is shorter than Paul's) made the rest of the day much more pleasant than it might have been, considering the heat and the activity.
