I am cutting myself off. Until I go through the books on my bookshelf and/or kindle that I have not read, I am not allowed to buy anymore non-school related books. I came to this realization/self-imposed ultimatum today when I finished A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers and then remembered that I bought the book from the ( Read more... )

You must read Franny and Zooey. I own a bunch of those too, but F&Z is one I own and have actually read, so it's a definite must-read! I have the same problem you do. Probably over a hundred books I own that I have yet to read, and I keep buying more. It's a sickness. Good luck :)

I have yet to sit in an English class where Dracula was an assigned text and the prof proceeded to suck the ever living crap out of the book.

Dracula is one of those books that should be handed to ppl near comfy seats where they can read it without douchy profs fucking up the narrative.

I really liked A Clockwork Orange and Everything is Illuminated.

MOBY DICK IS THE MOST BORING BOOK THAT EVER LIVED. EVER. I haven't finished that, or Crime and Punishment bc they both make me want to cry and/or fall asleep while reading them.

Dead Until Dark is a cute/quick read, so you could probably power through that in a couple of hours? I think I did, iirc.

omgggg moby dick makes me want to die. i can't decide if i'm stubborn enough to finish it. i flip back and forth.

i've seen both a clockwork orange and everything is illuminated in movie form, and i liked them both. plus i really really loved extremely loud and incredibly close, so i feel like i'll probably enjoy everything is illuminated. i asked jessie this, but do you think it's possible to read dead until dark and just... not read any others in the series?
