We're half through 2020, so I thought it would be a good idea to sum up fandom feelings. I'm not sure the Earth survives to December 31st. And I happen to have some fandom things I'd like to write about.
End of Fannish Year June Meme 2020
1. Your main fandom of the year?
I rediscovered, or properly discovered, Tim Minchin - I only knew him from

Congratulations! :)
watched a Polish tv series about Geralt.
Ouch *brings a laurel wreath of heroism* How's your health now? I might have some detox for this specific poison, in case you need that...
Also, all the online streaming of plays.

Actually, it was better than I expected (though, I admit, my expectations were really low). I timed it well - I'd watch one episode a day, after work, and meanwhile I'd check social media, news and basically the Internet. It was a great way to put the mind away from work and give it a rest :)

That sounds mysterious, you got my attention...
takie coś
Hm, darmowe?

I can imagine. If you think it's going to be okay, at least, AND as close to Sapkowski's stories as possible, then you should not only ask for refund afterwards, but also demand compensation.
My first Witcher experience was this (I finally understand the title :D

and I think it also helped with the expectations :D

Szczerbial?

I saw that it was trending on Twitter and that season 3 had come out, I haven't even seen season 2 yet... for the same reason, I thought I must rewatch season 1 again, or read up on it at least.
With such series it's probably better co come in at the end and watch it all at once.
My recent discovery is "Star Trek: Voyager". I only wanted to check it out, now I got seriously addicted, already wrote 7 fanfictions and bought all the action figures. That was not exactly planned LOL
And I had to add Robert Beltran to my ever growing list of guys... *sigh*
I also over the past few weeks finally managed to watch "Pennyworth" and I am missing it deeply now. It is so weird and different and I don't even know how to sell it to you, but I truly did love the characters. And all the wonderful accents, OMG! So, if you want to check it out. I hear there is a season 2 planned but no idea if they finished fillming before all the madness hit.

I think you did! I loved season one, when it started as a mystery story and then BANG! it's so much bigger. I loved that the characters actually looked like ordinary people in ordinary town (I call it European way, in American movies everyone is so pretty), although I was mixing up two male characters and two teenagers for too long :D And it was so refreshing to hear other language than English. I must do it more often.

I think it's true. If only I could go back in time and tell myself that :D

Sounds like a typical Saturday :D I'm joking, but hey, new fandom, new joy.

You don't know how true that is! I mean, here I was sitting, waiting desperately for new "Orville" episodes. Season 2 ended in May 2019 which already is a long time ago, and now they had to stop filming like everyone else so who knows when we will ever get season 3. Originally it was planned for the end of this year.
"Voyager" certainly has filled that hole very nicely and I haven't thought about "Orville" in weeks!
And in all honesty, it also has helped me keeping sane during the first crazy weeks in March and April. One hour to get away from all the bad news. It was very relaxing.
And then in one episode I find the sentence: "Congregating in groups is strictly regulated. lt's considered to be a threat to public health." I couldn't believe my ears LOL
I read it's about Alfred's past. I like London, I like the 60s setting. Is it action-packed? Not the biggest fan of shooting and chasing.No. I wouldn't say there is much shooting and chasing. There is much talking instead. In the wonderful accents ( ... )

# It's British TV.
# It has a young Sean Bean in uniform.
# It has a Sean Bean not dying! Multiple times in a row!
# Music. Besides a great opening + end credits song, they had a singer/composer in one of background roles (and it was a good role), in case you're in a market for a musician ( ... )

A watchable stuff, I guess? It's always good to find some good discussion on the Internet afterwards, but if there isn't, I'd sadly move on. For some reason, I never got into the Mad Men fandom after finishing the series (it's still active) and just went looking for some other things to watch instead of rewatching and exploring.
Also, does it need to be fresh, or are oldish things acceptable?
No, it absolutely doesn't have to be new. New things tend to get cancelled as soon as I get to know the characters and decide I care about what's going to happen to them. *sighs*
how about the Sharpe series?
Oh, we're talking about that old.
# It's British TV.
You got me there :D
I'm always in the market for good music, and it has Brian Cox in it who also played in Succession (I've just finished it and highly recommend). The uniforms are always welcomed, and it's even funny? *adds Sharpe to the list*
Reply
*cough* Well, "Sharpe" makes you care for characters and then cancels the characters. But other characters are sad with you, if that helps.
Oh, we're talking about that old.
Oh, come on! :D It's in color and has sound!
You got me there :D
Why do you think I started with this. XD
it has Brian Cox
Hee, one of the bestest roles! And one of first on the screen, too.
(And Death in GO, apparently. Huh.)
I'm kind of thinking about a rewatch myself (thought I'm also a little afraid, you know XD), so if you want, give me a heads up, if you'd be up for watching more or less together. :)

Thanks for the warning, I'll bear it in mind and prepare myself.
And Death in GO, apparently. Huh.
I've heard it was someone famous, good to finally realise who he is :P

I have two first episodes on my computer, so it's this or Dark I'll be watching right now. I'll let you know how it goes :)
