i'd be glad to talk about this in person, but from my experience, nothing good comes from talkin about this stuff on lj.

one thing i think is important to realize is not to let the whole argument about how God created man let u forget about the more important issues. it's fine to discuss evolution, but i think the question we should be most concerned with is "how can man be restored to his origional goodness in a fallen world?"

anyway, i hope i get to hang out with u some the next time i'm home. you're always such a blessing.

i actually disagree with a lot of what you have up there bro. we actually just got done studying evolution, and i think it really makes a lot of sense. and i dont think it's impossible to have a theory of evolution, and still have a belief of a creator. i think evolution is simply a pretty well thought out, and acceptable theory on how God created life, and how that life has progressed since the beginning. even the biology books have a starting point, but one always has to ask, who made the starting stuff? why rule out that evolution of species is part of God's plan? or part of his method for bringing us about as we are today? another thing that made me go hmmm was how would you define "creation"? did God 'create' us in a sense that he did it with his mystical powers or with a touch of his hand? or could he have created us a little more indirectly, but still within his plan for humankind ( ... )

well i dont completely deny evolution. i support micro evolution which is pretty much a species can evolve within themselves for example humans are more complex than we used to be (we dont use certain organs anymore etc). but as far as people coming from apes at least i cant agree with that coming from a biblical standpoint...in genesis it says that God created humanity from the dust of the earth, and as i said i guess some people can arrive at well if he created other species or whatever than indirectly we are from dust. but i think the point theyre trying to get across is that God started from scratch because it says not only did God create humans from dust, but that God breathed the breath of life into adam. if adam is a product of billions of years of evolution it would imply that he would already be alive making the breath of life to bring him alive in the first place unnecessary. also what would be the defining line between the last ape/the first human (adam)? what would be the point in time where God said "ok youre finally ( ... )

I used to believe what you said, too...about evolution could just be a tool that God used to bring about the creation of man ( ... )

these are all good comments. but nobody has examined the scriptures of the creation account to justify how God used evolution. no one has responded to my questions on if evolution to arrive at humanity is true, why the certain choice of words used in the bible is there as opposed to the alternate options either. ive heard the argument well God is God why couldnt he have guided evolution to humanity? i say well if God is God why couldnt he have made humans from scratch? to me at least it seems like you have to twist scripture in order to make it fit evolution when taking it for just what it says falls perfectly with just flat out creation. that is, until someone takes ( ... )

we'll see how it goes in practice.

evolution = has collosal impact on every meaningful question
revolution = is a materialistic possession that does nothing for the good of mankind.

I can see why people would rather talk about evolution.

heh, i was just trying to lighten things up a bit. things just seem to get tense in these discussions. i dont know that evolution really has a "colossal" impact on every meaningful question...and i wouldnt say that the nintendo revolution has NOTHING good for mankind. things like this...fun...lightens things up in life....makes people happy. i'd say that is something good eh? i like talking about controversial stuff like evolution, dont get me wrong...but if you wanna talk about good for mankind...what good does endless convorsation on stuff that everybody disagrees on lead for mankind? to me it seems to divide us, which i dont think is good...so that's why i said it's not that big of a deal, lets all stay happy, and talk about one thing what makes people happy: fun things (like exciting news about a new nintendo platform :) )

sorry to interrupt the flow of the discussion though. i wont do it again. :)
