these are all good comments. but nobody has examined the scriptures of the creation account to justify how God used evolution. no one has responded to my questions on if evolution to arrive at humanity is true, why the certain choice of words used in the bible is there as opposed to the alternate options either. ive heard the argument well God is God why couldnt he have guided evolution to humanity? i say well if God is God why couldnt he have made humans from scratch? to me at least it seems like you have to twist scripture in order to make it fit evolution when taking it for just what it says falls perfectly with just flat out creation. that is, until someone takes:

" 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground-everything that has the breath of life in it-I give every green plant for food." And it was so."

and

" 7Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

8The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed."

and describes how that falls into place with an evolution viewpoint.

Are you saying intelligent design and the bible are not compatible?

Because, intelligent design believes the earth was not created in 6 days.

Augustine, thomas aquinas, the entire early church believed the earth was created in 7 "spaces of time" called "epochs" the idea of the 6 day earth came out in an article published the "fundamentalist" in response to evolution.

Are you suggesting, everyone before the 1800's did not actually believe what the bible said?
and.. the jews, and the greeks, and the romans, and the entire early church also had no idea what they were talking about?

the various categories go as follows.

* CREATION
o Flat Earthers
o Geocentrists
o Young Earth Creationists
+ (Omphalos)
o Old Earth Creationists
+ (Gap Creationism)
+ (Day-Age Creationism)
+ (Progressive Creationism)
+ (Intelligent Design Creationism)
o Evolutionary Creationists
o Theistic Evolutionists
o Methodological Materialistic Evolutionists
o Philosophical Materialistic Evolutionists
* EVOLUTION

I fall into the "intelligent design creationism", Where do you fall?
