New York City - my heart skipped a beat during the very first subway stint (which was incidentally in the wrong direction, yet something that I completely enjoyed), and the four day love affair with the city began.

The Americans don't have too many festivals. The few that they do are all packed into the last three months of the year - Halloween in October, Thanksgiving in November and Christmas in December (it feels like heaving a huge sigh of relief at the end of the year in which not much got done anyway). It is past spring and well into a blazing summer. The trees have turned from stark naked bone skeletons to a dusty desert green. The desert flowers bloom in fiery red and sunshine yellow, spotting the barren land at irregular intervals. I have just lived through two months of the most beautiful weather in my life. A chill 8 deg C to a crisp 15 deg C to an amazing 21 deg C. January is the best time to be in the desert.

Floral scents. Warm sunlight. Chirping birds. Crystal clear skies. Cotton candy clouds. Rock on springtime !!
