Go Figure

A place long loved. And cherished. The warmth of the hearth. Red and cream. Green and brown. Clank of metal. Thud of plastic. The tinkle of water and then the rush. The sights and light. The smells and seasoning. The taste and ah, bliss. The smiles and tears. The guffaws and bawls. The brawls and gossip. The heart. It does not listen. The young 'un. Shred of a shirt. There, around that corner. A smile, lined with dust. Covered with grime. A hand outstretched. A plea for help. Silent, ah the silence that deafens. A bent back. Strained sights. A life long lived. A life unloved. Unflinching not by choice. Ah, that silence deafens again. The heart. It does not listen. Blue and white. A long twelve years. A time capsule. Heaven and earth. And then two more. The rush and roar. It still resounds. Him and her. Alleluia, and the heart. It does not listen. Swim and tide. Against and beyond. With and drown. Survive. Break the shackles. Dare to dream. A dream unknown. A dream undreamt. A dangerous dream. Yet a dream come true. It had to be this way. The heart. It does not listen. To each his own. A full circle. Love and un-love. Home to roost, to love, to live.
