I want a thoughtful, well-planned season that focuses on the real issues

Yes, yes and YES!! That's exactly what I want to see, too!

Don't need 2 tagalong characters, women or men, and certainly nobody to make our guys look inferior or redundant

The description of the girls really pissed me off - especially that they're better than Sam and Dean. Yeah, way to go alienating your audience with that remark!

So, I have to say I have strong reservations about this.

And now that we know Dawn Ostroff is behind it all, I'm more scared than ever.

Why do I have this feeling that this was the condition for the show to have a 3rd season? Something like "Either you add two girls as regulars or you have no show, Eric!"

If they wanted to raise the ratings, why not return to the proven formula of season 1? Why this? I wouldn't mind these girls as recurring characters, but regulars? I bet that they'll make the boys constantly look like fumbling idiots. Condescending behavior anyone? You know this "leave it to the girls, little boys."

I hope that Eric and TPTB will hear the fans' displeasure loud and clearly! X(

Hm, but there is another possibility too - what if the girls are meant to hunt the Winchesters down, and not be their partners? As I said here. In too much hurry to write it down again, sowwy :(

That's an interesting idea and I think I could buy that if they weren't going to be regular characters. Recurring, yes. I could see the adversary thing that way, showing up every so often, like Gordon. But regular implies in basically every episode. If the girls are hunting Sam and Dean, Sam and Dean aren't doing a very good job of keeping a low profile if the girls find them episode after episode. That's why I keep thinking that they'll be traveling with the boys somehow (barf, gag) which would explain their constant presence. [sigh]

You know, this reminds me a lot of The Sentinel. Do you remember Caroline, Cassie, Megan... How they always tried to stuff a woman between Jim and Blair? And how they failed time after time?

Maybe we should come up with tags for the show, like BMS (before Mary Sue) or BB (before bimbos) XP

I feel your pain and understand totally......I'm fighting it myself and trying to look at different angles. I wonder, if they end of being bad guys that the boys has to chase for they are giving hunters a bad name.......and I'm not going to put all the blame on Eric, could be CW is wanting more girlie action, cause we know how on the money CW is not when it comes to giving what the fans want.......

Kimber

who, is praying that Eric is just waiting for the amunition to give to the silly powers that be at CW as to why something like this, if done poorly, will wreck the show. But then CW could care less. Could be they have plans for 2009 with a whole knew line up, since 2009 they won't even have Smallville to contend with.....hmmmmmm

Well, you were right:

And now that Dawn Ostroff is involved in all of this and is pulling the strings, those girls will be front and center of SPN in no time flat, just you watch.

Could be they have plans for 2009 with a whole knew line up

Hmmm...can you say spin off series with Bela and Ruby while SPN gets canceled so Ostroff gets her way and gets yet another female lead show?

God, I'm depressed!

I've been thinking about this and it can't be true, it just can't. I mean Supernatural is all about Sam and Dean, not Sam and Dean and two female characters that are being introduced in Season 3! It sounds ridiculous!

Unfortunately it's true, and it's all to be blamed on Dawn Ostroff:

Shit, this is a freaking nightmare. What do networks know about good storylines anyway?!

Obviously they don't! Just leave it to the creators for god's sake!

I completely understand how you feel, because...well...I kinda feel the same way. Personally I never had a problem with Jo being there, knowing that she was just a recurring role and all, but putting up with 2 female regulars who are hunters as well (and one of them a better hunter than Sam and Dean...WTF??) just doesn't sit well with me. We all love the show for what it is. It's the story about Dean and Sam and their family. And I don't want anyone else in there as regular. I could deal with them as recurring roles but nothing else. Doesn't mean I would stop watching but it would certainly kill a huge part of the anticipation before every new episode. and I would hate that ( ... )

Yes, thank you! That's why I started watching the show in the first place! I didn't sign on for an ensemble drama!

Doesn't mean I would stop watching but it would certainly kill a huge part of the anticipation before every new episode. and I would hate that

And for me, I don't WANT to be dreading what each episode will bring. I want to be excited about them! So I'll walk away from SPN before I stick around and watch a show I love be destroyed.

it looks like she would try something stupid like that.

And that's exactly what she's done:

We're seriously screwed now that Ostroff is behind this and pulling the strings. All she cares about are shows with female leads, so you just watch how fast these girls take front and center stage when season three gets started.

God, I'm so freaking depressed.
