I completely understand how you feel, because...well...I kinda feel the same way. Personally I never had a problem with Jo being there, knowing that she was just a recurring role and all, but putting up with 2 female regulars who are hunters as well (and one of them a better hunter than Sam and Dean...WTF??) just doesn't sit well with me. We all love the show for what it is. It's the story about Dean and Sam and their family. And I don't want anyone else in there as regular. I could deal with them as recurring roles but nothing else. Doesn't mean I would stop watching but it would certainly kill a huge part of the anticipation before every new episode. and I would hate that.
on the other hand I don't think that Eric is to be blamed as the only one behind that idea. I guess there was a lot of pressure from the CW as well with that Ostroff chick not getting the show and all. to me it looks like she would try something stupid like that.
I can't really stop thinking about that. maybe someone put these thoughts out to see the reaction of the fans towards to decide if to go along with the thought or totally dismiss it with the reaction of fandom towards Jo in mind. just a thought. maybe they really just trying to get the fan's reaction for that kind of set-up before doing something stupid. but they should already know what we would say to something like that and shouldn't have brought that up...AT ALL.
I really am tired of thinking about and so I will try and stop because it drives me nuts. I was so happy about a third season and now I just don't know if to look forward or not. so I try to not think about it at all and wait till the first episode airs sometime end of September. and hoping taht it really only was a stupid rumour to stir things up a bit during hiatus.

Yes, thank you! That's why I started watching the show in the first place! I didn't sign on for an ensemble drama!

And for me, I don't WANT to be dreading what each episode will bring. I want to be excited about them! So I'll walk away from SPN before I stick around and watch a show I love be destroyed.
it looks like she would try something stupid like that.
We're seriously screwed now that Ostroff is behind this and pulling the strings. All she cares about are shows with female leads, so you just watch how fast these girls take front and center stage when season three gets started.

And that's exactly what she's done:
