in Elysium all day and all night...aethyrfluxNovember 8 2003, 08:49:17 UTC
the burners' town hall meeting is at Elysium from 3pm to 6pm that day -- and then, there's time to catch a bite to eat -- before going back to Elysium for the Live Journal Party @ 8pm!!!
Considering Smith called her 'mom', I supposed it's supposed to be the Oracle, but really, I have to say that as an ending to the only real modern Epic put out in our lifetimes, the ending was entirely a let down.
I left the theater going 'Eh...' and have no interest in seeing it again, whereas the other two left me wanting more, wanting to see them again, and with something to discuss.. This one, I left, and the discussions were more along the lines of trying to make more out of the little they /did/ give us. Feh.. too much build up for an all together flat ending, I think.
Donnie Darko is a much better movie anyway...aethyrfluxNovember 8 2003, 06:39:00 UTC
but, similar to our Donnie Darko conversation... i think that we can learn a lot from our conversation with each other. and, i found quite a lot of info that agrees with and furthers your logic... q.v. my next post
I don't think Neo was supposed to be "Blind Justice" at all. Tarot reference or not. I think he was supposed to be the blind prophet, like Tiresias or Oedipus at Colonus. I don't see the strong vein of Tarot imagery in those movies.
How Deep Does The Rabbit Hole Go?aethyrfluxNovember 12 2003, 10:48:38 UTC
in the role of Tiresias, Neo's acts certainly foreshadow everyone's destiny, and his blindness is definitely a parable about how blindness to the illusionary nature of the profane world allows him to see the 'truth' of the sacred realm.

Well, just as a demonstration of how much those attributions are your own creative effort, I ignored them for a few minutes in order to construct my own "Matrix Trumps." You'll note we don't have many assignments in common

To make that pictorial, that should actually not be the Matrix ("You can't see it." d'oh!), but rather the Woman in the Red Dress from the training sequence in the first movie.
