Oh yeah, in partial response to lumiere's last post: can we please stop calling the Republican Party "the GOP"? Grand Old Party they may have been, but their leadership fell off the sanity bus at least a decade ago. These are people who put the phrase "life health of the mother" in air quotes and disenfranchise, in the name of electoral transparency, Read more... )

i'm still pissed that the washington state dems lost that case. fucking rossi. i mean, he's going to get in anyway, which terrifies me, but if he'd run as a republican at least it would have been close.

he's ellen craswell in a suit. i don't understand why people don't get that.

also, he's been hitting the eastside megachurch circuit and talking about "those people" far more effectively than ellen ever did. (i've infiltrated a couple of his appearances but wouldn't you know it recording devices weren't allowed) oh yeah, i don't think she wanted to cut the minimum wage, though...i could at least respect her...

I've always thought it was ironic. I guess it came in quotes only in my head. Maybe I should always write it thus: Sen McCain is a member of the "GOP."

Fair enough. I even watched that; I should know better.

Still. Air quotes, around the topic of removing ectopic embryos, or around women going septic in childbirth? I'd say "fuck him" but friends don't let friends &c.

I've always thought it was kind of onomatopoeic. "Gop." Doesn't it sound like a sort of oozing mess that's accumulated on the bottom of the political barrel and needs to be scraped off?
