Kamui had almost constantly been darting backwards and forwards between the stove and various cupboards. After passing the strange utensils, which he still had no clue about, for the umpteenth time he had started to hum a familiar tune to himself.

Despite how he was cooking for a large group of people he barely knew, apart from Unohana-san, he was remaining perfectly calm. He remembered being told once that if you’re stressed in a kitchen accidents started to happen, even more so if you still couldn’t have complete control over powers when panicked.

The teen had been making a written note about what supplies they still had as he walked backwards and forwards. As he stirred one of the various pots, which was currently boiling, he noticed that in one of the corners of the paper he’d been doodling. He shook his head slightly and placed the pencil he’d been using, along with the paper, into his pocket. Better safe than sorry when cooking.

Unohana smiled as she watched Kamui-san fleeting about in the kitchen. He looked completely in his element there, for some reason. It was as if the worries of their respective worlds, and those of their worlds, could not touch them here.

"People should be here shortly, Kamui-san. I trust everything is to your satisfaction."

The teen looked up briefly from the stove, he looked a little shocked but blinked it away. He'd been so wrapped in cooking that he'd forgotten where he exactly was.

"Uh...yeah. Of course." Kamui smiled and nodded before returning to his work.

She left him to his work, amused by his reaction.

Right at home. It was strange, the way they had of adapting.

"Tell me when it is ready. I'll help you bring all that to the table."

It had been a while since Roy had last been to a casual dinner party - even if the invitations had said 'casual' on the ones he went to of other ranking officers - 'casual' had never been a part of the equation. Of course, in the end he would find them extremely informative, and yet he would be lucrative and unlike the others around him, find other topics to speak of besides those they wished to know. He'd learnt from very early on to play his cards close to his chest ( ... )

Unohana heard the knock and picked Minazuki up, more by reflex than because she thought there was any danger.

She had not known what to expect, really. So many different people had turned up. She smiled nicely at the young man in some sort of military uniform who wa standing on her doorstep.

"Welcome. I am Captain Unohana Retsu. Do come in," she added, opening the door more widely to reveal the kitchen space.

"This is Kamui Shirou," she said, nodding towards the young man at the stove. "He is our cook for tonight. Can you use chopsticks ?"

The Colonel's eyebrow arched slightly when the door was opened, and he inclined his head slightly, allowing himself into the room and instantly finding his gaze searching the kitchen, a smile spread to his lips.

"Unohana, I am Colonel Mustang." He replied softly, his gloved hands immediately finding their way behind his back, curiously watching the teen at the stove, a nod followed as acknowledgement of Kamui's work, before Unohana asked a question and he showed light amusement.

"Chopsticks, Yes. Wonderful." was his light response, looking generally light and rather airy about the whole occasion - he had to play it cool.

Unohana could guess that the military rank was an important one by the way the young man was holding himself, even if it didn't exist in her world.

"I haven't assigned seating, Mustang-san, so feel free to sit wherever you'd like," she said.

All of the other guests had rather gracefully left the head of the table free for the moment, but Unohana could not wait to see how this particular guest would react. His apparent relaxation was at odds with what Unohana knew of new arrivals.

The evening was proving to be interesting. Now if only she could take Kaworu-san off her mind long enough ...

"I will make sure to take some time for you should you have any questions that you'd rather ask in private."

The cybernetic soldier who had fallen under the quasi-command of the resident ranking shinigami out of respect for her higher rank made his way toward the clinic, his helmet held in one hand. Kage, unfortunately, still lacked any clothes, so he was forced to attend the dinner in his armor suit. He'd live, but it might be a tad awkward, since it meant all his weapons came with him.

While his rifle hung rather obvious over his shoulder, it was slightly covered by an old backpack that he had found. The backpack itself contained some of the food items he'd found, though not all. Kage'd been trying to divide what he found fairly, since he had offered to find things for Ginia as well.

Sincerely hoping to make a good impression, Kage knocked on the door and waited, making a point of quickly smoothing his blue hair.

Unohana went to open the door again. She wasn't too put off by the strange feeling she was getting this time, but still ... the taste of that reiatsu was strange.

She opened the door with a smile, and waited for the person on the doorstep to introduce themselves.

Once the door was open, Kage gave a relaxed salute before speaking. "First Lieutenant Kage Sirakal. Pleased to finally meet you, Captain Unohana."

She certainly had a presence about her, despite her apparent calm and relaxed appearance. It would certainly explain why he felt so inclined as to respect her rank.

"Good evening, Lieutenant," Unohana said, opening the door more widely. "The pleasure is mine."

She then looked at the armor suit, then at the low tables with their cushions, then at the armor suit again.

"Ah ... this might be a problem. Do you need a change of clothes, Lieutenant ?"

Dinner parties. Those were a far and distant memory and something he missed. Whether it was a large ball thrown for the citizens of Radiant Garden where a good time was had by all or a smaller and quieter, though just as fun, gathering with a close group of friends, Ansem enjoyed them.

While he did not know the people well as he'd only spoken them through the network, he still felt honored to be invited.

Thus he headed off to the clinic dressed in his robes (if only because he hadn't found much else to wear) and with a bag containing some cans of food and a small bag of rice. It felt right to share some food when supplies were limited and hard to come by and they would be going through all the trouble of cooking for many.

Reaching the clinic, he gave a polite knock on the door and waited for an answer.

The door opened on Unohana again, holding Minazuki as ever.

"Welcome," she said with a bow of her head. "I am Unohana Retsu."

The head bow was returned by Ansem as he smiled and offered out his meager offering of goods. While she was a shinigami and he wasn't sure if matters of light and darkness still applied, he definitely felt an aura of light coming from her.

"Good evening, Ms. Unohana. I am Ansem. I honored to be invited to this small gathering and I've brought some food to share. It's not much, but I hope it will last in these strange times."

"Thank you very much, Ansem-san. I am sure Kamui-san will know what to do with those. He is our cook for tonight."

She beckoned to the table. There is no assigned seating, so feel free to mingle with everyone else. The meal should be ready shortly.

[Continued from here]

As the spots next to her were already occupied, Ansem seated himself at an opening slightly across from her, nodding his head politely at the people seated on either side of him.

"This is quite the varied gathering, but I am pleased. And the food smells delicious. My compliments to the chefs."

((ooc: Whoever wants to sit next to Ansem can claim to do so.))

"Jut one chef, actually," Unohana said, laughing softly as she pointed at Kamui-san. "I am afraid that it has been too long since I cooked my own food. I am hopeless in a kitchen, but hopefully, Kamui-san will consent to teaching me."

Kamui nodded and smiled in an embarrassed sort of way. "It's no problem."

He turned briefly to Unohana-san, "I'm sure you'll pick it up faster than I did."
