Despite how he was cooking for a large group of people he barely knew, apart from Unohana-san, he was remaining perfectly calm. He remembered being told once that if you’re stressed in a kitchen accidents started to happen, even more so if you still couldn’t have complete control over powers when panicked.
The teen had been making a written note about what supplies they still had as he walked backwards and forwards. As he stirred one of the various pots, which was currently boiling, he noticed that in one of the corners of the paper he’d been doodling. He shook his head slightly and placed the pencil he’d been using, along with the paper, into his pocket. Better safe than sorry when cooking.

"People should be here shortly, Kamui-san. I trust everything is to your satisfaction."

"Uh...yeah. Of course." Kamui smiled and nodded before returning to his work.

Right at home. It was strange, the way they had of adapting.
"Tell me when it is ready. I'll help you bring all that to the table."

Once again he returned to stirring various pots and shuffling around the area to different cupboards. His mind absently recalled the names that the other had mentioned previously, he couldn't say that any of them rang any bells.

She had expected to find Unohana there, but upon entering, the first person she saw was a teenage boy standing at the stove, completely engulfed in preparing the meal. This must be Kamui; she recalled Unohana mentioning that he would cook tonight.
It was weird - they were living under the same roof but had never met so far. Well, maybe it was not that weird, considering that she had been most of the time on her room since her arrival here.
Still standing at the door, her eyes were resting on the boy who was seemingly oblivious to her presence, hesitant to say hello as she didn't want to startle him or interfere with his cooking. But she didn't want to just pass by without greeting him either, and so, eventually, she slowly made her way towards him.
"Hello," she said, clearing her throat.

He looked up at the voice, he assumed the other person was from the clinic although he hadn't seen them around. "Hello." he said with a smile and a small nod before turning back to the stove. "You would be?" This time he spoke glancing over his shoulder, he still remembered several times when dishes had not only been burnt but cremated while he gave all his attention to a conversation.

He thought for a moment, looking over the pots before speaking again, "If you see Unohana-san on your travels could you let her know that i'll be needing her help soon?"

"Most of the food is ready to be dished up, the parts that aren't should be done very shortly."

It had been quite a long time since Unohana had been a grunt in her own squad, running around to fulfill her duties, serving sake to higher officers and so on. This was ... oddly nostalgic. She couldn't even remember when was the last time she had cooked her own food or put anything on a table that wasn't handled by her lieutenant or someone in the squad.
This whole situation was bittersweet, in a way. Putting her so far back in the past, in years long forgotten.

Kamui tilted his head and looked at Unohana-san. "Are you okay? You seem a little lost in thought." Normally he wouldn't have intruded on another's thoughts but it seemed rather out of place on the occasion.
