Hello, adepts_gs! How are all you lovely people? I come bearing a survey which I would love to have you all fill out. Your input would be much appreciated, as I'm hoping to put together a fandom history of sorts for Golden Sun Universe, our fandom's wiki. When did you first get into the Golden Sun series? I would guess at the summer of '04, but I'm not certain; all I'm sure of is that I had read a fair bit of GS fanfic by early '05.
Which GS game did you play first? The Lost Age, up to (I think) just before Air's Rock. Then my friend wanted it back.
When did you first start seeking out the fan community in any form? Shortly afterward, sort of. GS was my first experience with so much as the idea of fandom. What I was looking for was GS3, which search led me to a fan-forum - Mercury Lighthouse, I think - and then to ff.n.
If you contributed any fanworks, when did you start doing so? I'm not certain. I know I did some scratching of fic way back toward the beginning, but I don't know that I'd count those as contributory. What I'd describe as contributions would be my pictures, which began in April or May of '08.

When did you first get into the Golden Sun series? 200...4, I think. I was a sophomore in high school.

Which GS game did you play first? The first ("The Broken Seal"?).

My bus driver was way cool was buying a new GameBoy SP and sold me his old GBA and two of the games on it for $30. I never got the hang of the Dungeons & Dragons one, but Golden Sun promptly consumed my life.

When did you first start seeking out the fan community in any form? Probably a little after I beat the first. I don't remember it very well, but I'm sure I spent some lunch breaks in the school library browsing the internet.

I spent some time away from GS fandom when it faded and I was in college. In fact, I was in a chatroom being sarcastic to my friends during E3 2009 when I said, "Let me know when they show the trailers for Golden Sun 3", and not half an hour later the first previews for Dark Dawn happened. So, yeah, hilarious coincidence.

If you contributed any fanworks, when did you start doing so? Contribution only started happening in college, I think ( ... )

What are your thoughts on Dark Dawn? In two words: "wasted potential". They could have done some great things with it, and instead there was a bunch of annoying filler that they could have used for character and plot development instead of idle chatter about pigeons.

So, yeah, in conclusion I'd like a sequel that clears up some of the fail.

Which GS game is your favorite? They all have places in my heart. The Lost Age is far and away the best overall, but the original has nostalgia value, and Dark Dawn (I just wrote it as Dark Darn by accident)... it had potential. I like the characters they introduced, and if they hadn't dicked around on the storyline so much, it could have been good, too...

Which is your favorite out of the first two? Again, it's hard to choose, but probably The Lost Age.

Which element is your favorite? Very difficult to answer. Jupiter and Mars get all the awesome characters, but Mercury and Venus... again, potential. There are some interesting things they could have done with those two elements. They didn't ( ... )

The only active GS fansite I can really recommend is the Temple of Kraden, if you ever feel like giving it another shot. Also, you've got the wrong address for the GS wiki; we've moved off of Wikia to this location.

Thaaaat explains the fail shiplist on the Wikia site. Is there no way to remove the Wikia site or link to the new location on the homepage?

I'll have to look up Temple of Kraden again, one of these days.

Oh jeez. 2003? Damn, that was a long time ago.

The first one.

I honestly don't remember. But I do remember Golden Sun was the reason I found out about fanfiction and slash.

I wrote some reeeeaaally shitty fanfics back around 2004-05. They were awful. And then recently I've written some slightly less awful ones for the kinkmeme.

I remember I read a lot of stuff by someone named Kyarorain of FF.net.
6. How much did/does shipping matter and what did/do you ship?
I love my ships. I still love my ships. I everyone paired up somehow, but my favoritest OTP was Felix/Piers. I was also a staunch supporter of Alex/Jenna.

~ The Lost Age - it was the first game I EVER bought :)

~ Shortly after starting playing the game, I think.

~ I did submit one or two pictures to DeviantArt and FanFiction a long while ago now.

~ Um...I remember hearing about the Obsession of a Blue Haired Lemurian group whose chatchphrase was "POW POW PICARD!"

~ Valeshipping, Lighthouseshipping...<3 Hm, I guess the only one I really don't like would be FelixXPiers, haha.
