Some time ago, I experimented with various uses of a rather pricey can of matcha powder. Matcha Panna Cotta was one of the recipes I tried but I was unable to share any pictures. I have a problem with delayed gratification so, rather than waiting til tomorrow, I had to do the reveal after a brief 1 hour wait. Haste makes waste is a cliche but then, cliches are so often based on truth. It still tastes REALLY REALLY good though. :)

Although crepes are considered a French invention, a number of different countries make something similar. In Yugoslavia, they're called 'scoverde/scoverzile' by our fellow Romanians so, when I heard them called 'clatite', by my mom's contemporaries from Romania proper, I had no idea what they were talking about. :) My Hungarian SIL calls them ' ( Read more... )

I make panna cotta when I want a nice creamy custard but have no eggs, don't want to turn on my oven or some combination of the three. Usually, this occurs in the summer months, for some reason. I got up at 7am and, as I wasn't going to work, started to throw together ingredients for the matcha madeleines. It took me a while to get going but by 9am, I had eaten my 'trial madeleine' and the dishes done except for the muffin pan which is soaking to remove stuck on bits in spite of being prepped with cooking spray and floured.
